255: Moulin Rouge!

He's back! This time as the leading man who gets the love interest. In case you didn't know, he was in Mortdecai before this as the Detective. Now back to this movie. This movie is a very classic love story, that is so visually stimulating and chaotic at the same time. I will say that this movie is a little weird, but I have loved this movie since it came out and I was little. When trying to pinpoint why I loved this movie and still do, I would have to say it was the music as a first and the love story as a second. You can tell just how much it was love at first song, baring the soul and bringing a more profound deepness that becomes Christian and Satine's love. I have to say that the guy who plays the Duke does a great job of being a sleazy, slimy guy and for a minute I was wondering where I knew him from. Well he was Dracula in Van Helsing. I honestly think he looks way better as Dracula! But he has quite the range of skills when it comes to acting and changing his

This movie is so hilarious and my favorite part that kills me every time, is when they gag over his mustache. In case you haven't seen the behind the scenes, Gwyneth Paltrow actually had so many takes that she ruined because she was laughing all the time during that scene. I really need to hunt these books down that this is based on and read them. The movie has a Pink Panther feel to it with Inspector Clouseau being Mortdecai, but an art dealer who is having money trouble. Jock has some of the best lines in the sense that is always there to rescue Mortdecai and constantly reassure him. "Will it be alright in the end?" "I couldn't say sir." or... "I couldn't help but overhear something about a finger." "It's alright sir, I've got 9 more." or... "Your hand Jock!" "It's alright sir, I've got another one." I would say that this movie is maybe just a titch more raunchy than Pink Panth

My favorite part of this whole movie is the ending with Bob, where he tells Derek off and then jiggles his green jell-o as he slowly slides past him. I remember seeing this in theaters with my besties back in Utah and how we were doing the jell-o part over and over again whenever we would see each other at school. This movie, though it is animated and for kids, adults can like this do because it holds some adult hidden themes that they like to do in animated kids movies. This is also my 4th time seeing this movie and I noticed more things than I did before. What was really funny was when the high school kids were in the car and normally they have it in the movies where the girl is nervous, scared and the guy is pushy and strong. They flipped the roles and it was pretty hilarious with her carrying the guy over the hill to look at the fallen giant robot probe. It was also funny to watch my mom realize who the voice of Bob was, especially when he laughed because Seth Rogen has a ve

"I'm watching you Wazowski, always watching!" "You and me, me and you, both of us together!" I think I have seen this movie quite a bit. It is really freaking cute and the little girl who voiced Boo was super stinking funny and cute. I mean when she would just do sounds and noises as if they were words, I was giggling. It is so true to how a little kid is and especially when they finally get her back to her door, showing Sully her toys. Honestly, I would love to hug Sully! He looks so soft and cuddly and he is such a sweetheart, so I can see why Boo took a liking to him right away. I haven't seen the Monster University movie after this one, I mean I might one day but I am fine with the original for now. It does make me curious as to how Disney animators thought of this movie, how did they come up with the concept? Some of their concepts are just something that are perfect and wonder where they came from. A dream? Their own children? However they c

I have never seen this movie, this is my mom's and I finally saw it today. I have to say that I do actually like it and I found out that Chris Pratt was in this. Now I live in a state that is very big on sports, especially when it comes to Football and Basebal. Minnesota Twins has been the baseball team I grew up loving and my favorite player was Tori Hunter when he was there. Watching this movie, I can see how people really love the game. It was frustrating and hard on me though watching the field manager and the other guys completely throw Billy under the bus and not use the lineup he wanted. I was also getting frustrated at Billy, because if he wasn't more involved with the team he wouldn't have been walked all over. When he finally took charge and forced the hand of the field manager to do his lineup, that moment was awesome. I also had no idea that before Billy changed how the game was run and teams were built, I had no idea that they were so cosmetically superf

I didn't post this last night because I was tired, so I went to bed. I love this movie so much, I remember when it was available on Netflix that that was the first time I had ever seen the movie. Once I had seen it, I watched it again immediately after. This Disney movie I think is a lot like how I feel about The Little Mermaid. I have always loved water and this movie is so calming and feeds my free soul deep within. When she sings about how far she will go, I feel her love for the ocean and for adventure to the core. I sing along with her and wish I was on that canoe. There is one song on this that gives me chills each time I hear it, it is so powerful and if you ever blast it in your car or headphones the experience is amazing...that song is "We Know Who We Are" when she beats the drums in the cave and learns that her people were Voyagers. When I watched the behind the scenes, I loved that Disney actually took the time to travel and for 5 years to all the island

"Wear the crown, be the crown, you ARE the crown." Whenever the song "She's A Lady" comes on at my work, which is every day because we have a playlist, I think of this song. It has only been preparing me for this movie and this movie has been watched so many times. We owned the VHS version, the sleeve was tattered and then we converted to DVD and we still watch it just as much. My mom and I quote this all the time, especially the crown quote, the, "You want to love me, you want to hug me, you want to kiss me..." quote, "I'm gliding here!" quote and, "Bagel and Smear," a lot. I am not even touching on all of the quotes that we say during every day life because there is so many! This movie and the Beautiful that I own and watched way early on in this goal, are the ones that made me want to be in a pageant. I did audition for the Utah pageant many years ago, but unfortunately couldn't afford it. Growing up I had the ne

First thing is first, because he is in this movie..."One cannot simply overthrow the Evil Queen," or, "One cannot simply kill Snow White." Okay, now that Sean Bean is out of the way. :) I have seen this movie more than 10 times, but less than 20. I was speaking the lines as they were being said, the ones that I loved and just also stuck in my head in the most. What I love about this take on Snow White is the costumes, the scenery and the Bollywood-esque song and dance number at the end of the movie. Interesting fact: Lily Collins recorded the song and didn't tell her dad, Phil Collins, so when he saw the premiere with her he was stunned and very proud. Read that in an interview she gave. Now I know that Snow White was the first animated movie ever made, but I'm gonna be honest...Snow White is the one Disney Princess and movie that I loathe. However, this movie, Snow White & The Huntsman, and Snow White with Sigourney Weaver as the Evil Queen are t

247: Million Ways to Die in the West

"Can you give her 'wrapped' candies?" "People die at the fair." "Mila Kunis." "That went south so fast!!!" "Damn it Albert, no more friends!" And many more! I have this movie memorized and each time I laugh, it never ceases to be funny. Even the bloopers make me die with laughter. This movie is great at making fun of the old west and those movies, while still being accurate to clothing, music and sets. I mean Seth MacFarlane, I had no idea he was a big fan of old westerns and even though he was making a comedy out of it, he made sure to make a true old western. Now, like I said in the previous post...this movie is not for the faint of heart. If you cannot laugh at literal shit in a hat during a old western draw, this movie is not for you. If you cannot laugh at someone mentioning all the ways the west is a horrible time period to live in with how many ways there is to die, then this movie is not for you. If you cannot

I have seen this movie too many times and it is one of those movies that you watch so many times and you keep seeing things you didn't realize before. For instance, I didn't know that there was a Sprint Store and a Burger King inside MIB headquarters. Also, Martha Stewart is an Agent. Yes, you read that right, she was on the big screen with lots of people sitting around her in a conference. There was something, but I can't remember it right. Watch, I will remember it later when it is too late and this has already been up. Whatever. Frank has to be my favorite character in this, singing I Will Survive and then humming it. Then he also was barking to Who Let The Dogs Out. Come on! There are just so many moments in this movie that are hilarious. The one major part that I remembered the most, wasn't even a major part, it was when Michael Jackson was in the film saying, "I could be Agent M." Of course when I looked in the cast info on IMDB, they had him down

Keep moving forward. When you realize at the end, only after you read the whole quote and they sign on who said it, that Walt Disney said these words and they incorporated it into the movie. Making it the official motto of Lewis in the future. This movie is super cute and actually kind of funny. I used to love the T-Rex part the most, where he is saying how he has a big head and little arms when asked why he wasn't seizing the boy. Now my favorite part is when Lewis asks Wilbur what his dad looks like and Wilbur says, "Tom Selleck," and the kicker is that Tom Selleck was the voice of future older Lewis. See? That was a little hidden gem if you didn't know it was there before. There is a great lesson to be learned in this movie that if you fail, celebrate your failures because it will make way for great successes. You should never let failure hold you back, when hurtling over that failure could be a big change for your life for the better. You never know, you mi

The main lesson to learn from this movie, is that if you are friends with someone and you lie to them about hurting their family...it will come back to bite you. It doesn't even have to be their family, it could be just them. I like how this movie makes you think it has a supernatural element to it with the Valkyrie's that are being seen. Really it is all the effects of the drug that was made to create a super soldier. No fear, no pain, just all out power. I haven't seen this movie since 2009 when it was released on DVD, but I do remember seeing it in theaters with my friends and finding out later on that my brother was in the same theater as me all the way at the top. It was when I came home that night to tell him how awesome it was that he said yeah, I was there too. "Did you stay for the end credits scene?" I had no idea there was one. Why? Because end credit scenes weren't even a thing yet!! I have never played the video game that inspired this movi

243: Matchmaker

Image
Well, despite the politics in this movie...I do like it for the fact that it is different and finds herself some love and helps the Senator to go on the right path and find love himself. I also had to look up the Matchmaker Festival that they reference in this movie to see if it was true. It was! It apparently has been going on for 160 years in Ireland and people from all around the world come to find love, dance, listen to music and have a good laugh. I have decided that if I still haven't met someone in a couple years, I will find a way to go to this festival. I have always wanted to venture to Ireland and maybe see some other countries too. Might turn it into a trip if it gets there. I have only seen this movie...let's see, this is my second time. It is my mom's movie. I actually like it, but I don't think I would go out of my way to purchase it for myself. It is definitely a feel good movie and I can see me borrowing it from her from time to time. Finding lov

242: Master of Disguise

Image
"It's crazy, it's so crazy it just might work!" Watching this movie again, I still have it memorized. From him singing he's going to be a master of disguise, to being a turtle, to being gammy num num's. Then there is the iconic: I mean come on. How many times have you wanted to do this to someone to tell them to shut up? I think I actually did this in Elementary school too, but it wasn't in a mean way. People knew what I was talking about and we all laughed. Now we didn't laugh and then fart like Devlin did. ;) If you have yet to experience the magnificent Dana Carvey, then you need to see this movie. If you still have yet to understand just how funny he is when being dressed as someone else, doing different voices...then watch SNL with him as The Church Lady. Know him now? Good. This is one of those movies that will cheer you right up with some stupid humor and just how it makes fun a little bit of those spy movies. Pistachio, you

Image
Antonio Banderas...you make one charming masked man. Also you are one wild, full of energy, spaz! No wonder we love you so much! Then there is the beautiful Catherine-Zeta Jones. I wanted to be just like her when this movie came out. Wild spirited, great dancer and wearing all those amazing clothes she gets to wear in this. Her hair...I have hair envy with the color, length and luxuriousness it holds. Yes, I am talking more about the actors than I am about the actual movie. I remember watching the original Tales of Zorro on Disney way back when midnight would hit and it would go into the black and white shows with Walt. Who else stayed up just to watch those? Anyways, when they finally made a movie in color I was all over it. I had also grown up with Antonio Banderas being in Spy Kids, so I was already in love with him when this came out and it just grew with him being a masked hero. With his hair overgrown the way it was when his brother died in the beginning, he did kind of re

"Oh, let's go fly a kite. Up to the highest height! Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring...UP through the atmosphere. UP where the air is clear! Let's go. Fly a kite!" That song is going to be in my head all day I imagine. Well I started this movie last night and finished it just now. I am doing much better today, especially being on medicine now that we know what is wrong. I wish my medicine though tasted as good as theirs did. Lime Cordial. Strawberry. Rum punch. Although that last one I don't really know how good that tastes. I have watched this movie many times and each time I still hate that part in the bank when the elders are basically looming over the kids. Telling them how to live and how to spend and all that. Kind of forcefully trying to convince them into investing their money. I know that logically it is wise do invest at a young age and open an account, but the way that it was brought upon would be very traumatizing to a child. It wa

239: Man of the House

I haven't seen this since it came out on VHS. I used to watch this movie so much, it was where I got the love for "Everybody Dance Now" and "Return to Innocence." This movie was a classic Disney movie, even though there are some things mentioned that wouldn't be caught dead in a Disney movie nowadays. Then again, that is Chevy Chase for ya. I love the creativity in this movie, them creating art in the living room and his mom being an artist. She was even creating a windmill of some sort using a bike wheel and shovel heads. I loved the Native American theme in this movie, but I think they could have had more actual Native American's in the film rather than the one they did have. I mean one? Really? Just one? It is kind of like scouts but for boys and their dads, learning to bond and learning wilderness skills on top of it, bow and arrow...tomahawk throwing. That kind of thing. I do like this movie because he finally gets a dad, someone who cares ab

238: Mannequin

Image
This takes me back. I grew up watching this movie thanks to my mom. She would always say I was like Johnathan, always doing thing precise and perfect and would reference the pizza job he had in the beginning. What can I say? I am precise. Lots of artistic people are. I think that the concept of someone traveling through time due to the Gods of Ancient Egypt is great, but I'm a little confused as to why the girl would be named Emmy. That is probably the one thing that doesn't make sense when dealing with someone from that time period and even more so that she is a red head. I'm a stickler for accurate depiction, but this was made in the 80's and it more about her being a mannequin in time to find her true love. The music is really good in this movie and the big dance sequence in that department store...speaking of that department store, it was amazing and huge! I am writing this while I have a moment being upright on the couch, halfway through the next movie too.

I watched this yesterday and I am sick actually so this will be a short one. I was up for only 4 or 5 hours yesterday and slept the rest of the time. Still feeling like crap, tired and don't have much to say or think. I will say that whenever this movie is watched I am always sick, it is a great feel good movie with classic songs. Apparently the 2nd one just came out this week too, so the timing worked out. Just not so much being sick. Anyways, I am going to crash and watch some more movies. Those might be short too. Tori M.

236: Malificent

Image
I have always loved Sleeping Beauty, I mean come on...who else preferred Prince Phillip to all the other princes? Anyways, Maleficent is probably one of the best Disney villains. Well her and Ursula. She was green, mean and a fighting machine that came in dragon form. When they decided to do a movie that told the story of Aurora, but mainly focused on Maleficent and how she came to be the big bad to do the curse we all know, it was a magical thing. Villains had to have their start, their one moment that turned them into wanting revenge on the do-gooders of the world. Honestly the King had to have known that cutting off a faerie's wings would have dire consequences and not just any faerie's wings but one that he loved. Yeah, he didn't kill her and you can tell that he thought that taking her wings was better than killing her. Sparing her life and all that. But come on dude, you knew when you saw the green magic of doom far in the distance when you became king that tha

235: Maid in Manhattan

Image
Jenny from the block is rocking a new kind of Cinderella story. I like to think this movie relates to Cinderella. When you think about it, it really does. You get someone who cleans and serves other people, people who may or may not be nice to you and she winds up meeting someone while wearing something she normally doesn't with a false name...the only differences are that the love is so true that he would know her from sight, she has a kid and she didn't lose her shoe. Also her love interest, winds up being Voldemort years later in Harry Potter. But love is love. Ha, ha. I do love this movie though. I would watch this movie and The Wedding Planner all the time growing up. Jennifer Lopez really knows how to convey a love that is truly pure, meaningful and believable. She also works in a position that is hard to go up from in terms of promotion, has all the skills to be a manager and yet is looked at as if she couldn't do it because of what she does, what her name i

234: Made of Honor

Image
Ah this movie gets me every time, especially the comment on the "little athol". I do like how it has your best friend, who is not the traditional maid of honor, to be the maid of honor. It actually had me thinking on whenever I get married, who would be my maid of honor. It wouldn't be a woman and I would love for it to be one of my best friends, but they live back in Utah and there is no guarantee that they could make it. Life happens. Now, in this case in the movie the best friend happens to also realize that he is in love with her. Only after she hasn't been in his every day face to face life for 6 weeks while she is away on business. Then boom, she is engaged to someone she barely knows, who exceeds him in every way beyond knowing her to a freaking T. Also, if you haven't seen Grey's Anatomy, I find it funny that Patrick and Kevin did this movie and then like a year or so later Kevin joins the show. Not your traditional maid of honor...maid of honor

233: Lucy

What if we had more access to more of our brains? I mean it probably wouldn't be as science fiction as this movie goes, but I think the science is kind of close. There is much debate in the scientific community whether the 10% is a myth or truth. I personally think it is truth, we have no idea just what the brain can do. It is a powerful organ and there is capabilities of bettering our cognitive function with training, mastering skills to where we can do it on auto pilot without thinking. The possibilities are endless. What if there was a drug out there that could unlock another 5 or 10 percent of the brain? Would you try it? I love the concept of this movie, kind of like the movie made into a television show Limitless, but like I said...more sci-fi. I don't know if we would really be as shut down and monotonous as Lucy was when she absorbed the drug, I do know that the medicines we have to enhance cognitive efficiency help us focus more. Does more focus mean less emotio

232: Love & Other Drugs

Image
First thing is first...Jake Gyllenhaal in this movie is really hot. Yes, I went there. Now that that is taken care of, this movie is great in showing that you can find love in places you never thought possible. You might think you are dysfunctional and not worthy of love, so you push others away or detach yourself in an emotional sense and just have a physical relationship. All of these things Maggie and Jaimie did in this movie. They are two people who have problems and only come together and find out that they are very much the same. I did for a minute think about Deadpool and how he met his love of his life, they both were dysfunctional. These two did it first ladies and gents and they did it back in the setting of 1996 when boombox's were something you carried around to listen to music. Or when you had a really old video camera to capture the moments in life, or even right when Viagra was introduced to the world. In this movie you get to see sides to Parkinson's, to

"Gee, you are you." "Into me I see." This movie literally has so many quotes and it was the first time I had ever heard the song 9 to 5 and it was really hard to hear the original after hearing it played with the sitar. I like how this movie pays homage to Bollywood when they have the musical parts, makes you want to watch some of them and it really is beautiful the costumes, the music, lyrics and dancing that goes into it. This movie is also just really hilarious, he always finds ways to pay homage to things while still finding humor. Watching the behind the scenes, I had no idea that Mike had an interest in other cultures and history. It was interesting to hear that and how whenever he has an idea for something he tests that character or voice out at clubs and stuff. I do remember when this movie first came out that there were problems with it and how it was controversial and culture appropriation. When you watch it though you realize that it doesn't

230: Lord of the Rings - Return of the King

Image
I think this one is my favorite of the trilogy. The depth in this movie, plus all that glorious action...I will admit that my anxiety was not loving it. My anxiety was through the roof, especially with the battle scene with the elephants. I was like, "Oh God, no. How are you they going to get through this?!" Then of course when Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli came off that boat and then charged forward the army of the dead behind him I get out a mighty, "OOOOOHHHH YEAH!" This last movie is really the full package, tying everything up, giving suspense--even though you know that the ring will be destroyed and things will be grand in the end--and then at the end I had to actually google why Frodo left. I didn't understand why he was leaving and what that meant going to the Undying Lands. Now I know and it makes sense, it gives them a way to be at peace without the pains of what their adventures have done to them emotionally and physically. Gimli just cracks me u

So I watched this yesterday right after finishing Fellowship of the Ring. I didn't write my post until now because I was super exhausted yesterday, swollen from my allergies and sore all over. I went right to bed after finishing this movie. Watching it for the second time, I honestly only remembered the parts with Smeagol. Sad, huh? It was nice watching it again, I think it is nice that they really humanize him and Frodo brings that part out in him. Like Bilbo, he takes pity on him. However, unlike Bilbo he made him into somewhat of a friend. That is until Gollum gets in the way and manages to convince Smeagol to back to betraying them for the ring. With the final battle looming over everyone, I couldn't have been more happy with Merry and Pippin still helping out despite being away from the group. Gotta get those trees involved and make a dent in the battle to come with flooding Isengard and killing the remaining orcs left behind. Whoot, whoot! Also I have to mention...

Now for the next trilogy!!!! The first released in the series in movie format. I remember when we got the trilogy when it came out on DVD, that I was not into this kind of movie. I watched it and thought when I was little that this was a waste of time that I would never get back. Now these kind of movies are what I love!! I love books that are like this, writing things like this, etc. Sometimes you grow up and your likes change and I definitely had that case. I have seen this movie quite a few times, but the 2nd and 3rd I have only seen once and that was back when I was little. I still love Legolas, but I love Strider more and my mom now knows where 2nd breakfast came from. She has been saying she needs to eat her 2nd breakfast, with her diabetes and her doctor had called it that. Well I'm pretty sure that her doctor got it from LOR and my mom could be a Hobbit with her different meals she has to eat like they love to eat. I enjoyed watching the behind the scenes on this movi

227: Lone Ranger

Image
"High ho silver, away!" I know that this movie caused controversy with Johnny Depp playing Tonto, but I honestly think he did a good job in this movie. Now do I think that they could've found a really good Native American actor to play him, known or unknown, well definitely. It would have made it amazing if they had done that! But I do like the movie because it is funny, it is well written, well directed and that overture...man that overture is long, but it is intense. You can't not kind of bounce a little up and down when it starts on the famous part everyone knows. I didn't grow up watching the original show, my mom did and I know that when we first saw this when it came out she loved it. I think if I remember correctly she wanted to watch the show again. Ha, ha. If they do a sequel, it would be nice to see the Lone Ranger and Tonto continue on more adventures. There is definitely more and with the railroad causing issues throughout the country, there i

A mother daughter movie, redone for American audiences. I will say that watching this, it reminds me of my mom in the sense that we both get along on the level that they do when they get along. I wasn't your typical teenager that you hear about or maybe see in this movie. I didn't fight with my mom growing up, if I was upset about something that was said or done I would tell my mom. She raised my brother and I to be honest and up front about our feelings and thoughts. So we can be brutally honest about things, we don't sugar coat because that is not how we were raised. My mom did say that her mom would've acted the same way when Lola's friend Emily's mom found her unacceptable panties in her suitcase before she left for France. She was very conservative, my grandma. I like this movie in the way that it shows that just because something is happening in your life, doesn't mean it isn't happening for others or had happened to your parents. I never re

So I watched this yesterday and forgot to write this until now. Now that I am home from work, I can write this post. Ha, ha. This was huge nostalgia for me because when it first came out I remember going to see this movie for a friend's birthday in Elementary school and you can imagine a group of little girls in a theater in the front rows...yeah, it got a little insane, especially since we all loved the television show and Hilary Duff's music. If you don't know the lyrics to "This Is What Dreams Are Made Of" after only hearing them play it over a thousand times during the movie, then I am so sorry. Where have you been? I remember that I did want Paolo to be good and when he wasn't...kind of like Hans from Frozen. Charming and made you believe everything and then rips the rug out from under you. Okay, maybe Paolo wasn't as bad as Hans...but still. Watching it yesterday I did yell at the movie when she said he was so kind and sweet, "No he's

224: Little Nicky

Image
"Shh, I'm sleeping. Or am I?" That is honestly my favorite quote...well and also the, "Think of the butterflies." I mean this movie is really funny and has some lines. This was the first movie that I was introduced to involving Adam Sandler when I was growing up. You would think Mr. Deeds, but that wasn't until after this. This was one of my dad's favorite movies when I was little. The one thing that I laugh at really hard whenever I watch this, is when Beefy the dog goes to sleep and his sleeping is of kids singing, 'la, la, la, la, la,laaa'. My friend when she watched this with me thought it was super creepy, I can kind of see it but find the humor in it more than anything. You would think that I like Nicky the best, but I had a huge crush on Adrian his brother and I think that the two metal dudes stole the show. Especially how they were rocking it out in Nicky's old bedroom in Hell. It also took me a long time to try Popeye's c

223: Little Mermaid

Image
This movie is my life, in the sense that it has held as my top 2 favorite movies since I was really little. I have the original movie poster that came out when the movie did, it is framed and in my room. I have pajama bottoms and necklaces from the movie. I have a comforter that is the Little Mermaid when it first came out. I have another comforter that is the same color as her tail and I would lay it out and roll my legs in it to watch the movie to be Ariel. I even had a pool growing up all through Elementary school and had scuba flippers and would put them on and pretend I was a mermaid. It was awesome. I was quoting the movie while watching it, singing it and in the various voices. This movie has anchored into my very being and will never let go. Watching the making of the movie was cool to see, especially because the animation department of Walt Disney at the time had been banned from the studio set and moved to a parking lot a few blocks down. It was under new management a

This was the first and last time seeing this. My mom bought it years ago and never unwrapped it until now. I am still recovering from my crying, it is hard because it did remind me of the last moments of my grandma who passed away years ago. I was there when she was taking her last breaths and when she did in this movie I just broke. The movie was good, but we will not be keeping it. There is so much heart twisting things in this with her finding out she is going to die, being sick, being happy all up until the end and finding love when she had always been shut down. Not everyone goes out like Marley did and... Sorry I am crying again. This is hard. It has brought back all those memories of my grandma, though she did not die of cancer, she was not very happy the months leading up to her going. I remember that in her last moments of consciousness though that she was happy. She was seeing green fields and mountains and it made me think of the paintings that were in Marley's be

Who else sung Circle of Life in their choir? That is really the only reason I know the words to that song and I will never forget my choir teacher standing in front of us over enunciating the words so we would know how to say it. It really is a cool song, especially when you have it in a choir setting. I had the opportunity to see this when Broadway traveled here over a year ago and let me tell you it will give you chills. I remember my mom would always tell me in my life how when I was 2 years old I turned around to her when Mufasa was dead and told her, "Please don't die mommy." Somehow I took away from that moment that my mom could die and I didn't want her to. I do like this movie, but I don't watch it that often. Why? Because it is sad with Simba on the run thinking he was the reason his father died when really his uncle was just plain evil. What is even worse is that watching this, I know what real lions do when it comes to pride's, their young ma

220: Lilo & Stitch

Image
I am obsessed with Stitch and this movie. I know all the lyrics to Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride, have a giant Stitch stuffed animal from Disney World, two t-shirts--one with Lilo dressed as Robin holding Stitch on her shoulders with him dressed with the bra on his head and the towel as a cape talking to Batman saying who is really Batman, and Stitch where he is half Stitch and half Venom-Stitch. I remember when I was in Elementary school and this movie came out, I went to a birthday party and we watched this. It was Hawaiian themed and there was a hula contest to get a fake grass skirt, fake lei's for your head, neck and wrists. I was so into this movie that I won the hula contest and the lyric. I was very competitive when it came to that night and Lilo & Stitch. Sad. I know. My mom did point out in the beginning of the movie on where Stitch was going to pop out of hyperdrive and I can't believe I never realized it until now. They mentioned it as Area 51, so we are k

219: Life As We Know It

This is my 2nd time seeing this movie and I forgot just how sad, cute and serious this movie is. It does have humor in it, just not as much as it normally does when Katherine Heigl is attached to a movie. I mean this was more serious than Knocked Up.Then again you are dealing with the topic of being a parent to your dead best friends' toddler with the man/woman you don't get along with. I will say that that baby girl is super stinking cute. She stole the show all the way and it was about her anyways. I don't know if I would necessarily watch this movie again, just because of how hard hitting it is. I tend to steer clear of those kind of movies and prefer action, comedy, some romance...you get the gist. So my mom can keep this one and that is fine because it has the guy she loves in it from Sweet Home Alabama. Tori M.

218: Liar, Liar

"This pen that I hold in my hand is Rrrrrroyal Blue!" It has been years since I have seen this movie and I forgot just how hilarious it was. It really goes to show just how some things we do lie about day to day, whether it is a white lie to make people happy or in his case very big bad lies to get horrible people out of jail time or get loads of money. I do like that it shows just how much the truth really matters and also it can really hurt. Ever since I was really little I have always just said what I had on my mind or how I felt. I would tell people the truth and then of course get yelled at, especially when I had to keep a secret and no one told me that I had to keep it a secret. That happened all the time. I do pride myself on my honesty, because that is just who I am and how I was raised. That is not to say that I haven't said a few small lies, but that is pretty much rare for me. This movie shows the extremity of lying and where that can lead you. It also

217: Lemonade Mouth

Makes me want some of Mel's Lemonade, it looks really good in the movie. The music in this movie is on my iPod if that tells you how much I love this movie. When it came out when I was a Senior in High School, the next day everyone was singing it in choir and talking about it. I wish that Disney Channel still made movies with this quality but they really don't. Sure there is Descendants and that is really good, but they have kind of gone downhill in terms of their television channel. Also I mean come on, the female bass player wound up being a Power Ranger years later. She was awesome in this trying to find out who she was and breaking the mold of an American teenager/perfect Indian daughter, went onward to kicking butt to save the world. I still find it sad that they never did get to the sequel they had wanted to do. It would have been nice to see Lemonade Mouth go on another adventure. I do still follow Bridgit Mendler from this though and her music is really good, eve

"Bend and snap, works every time!" This movie is iconic. It is one of those movies that everyone knows and was big in Halloween costumes when it came out. I know because in Elementary school one of my best friends, he dressed up as Elle Woods with her little dog. I must've watched this movie a million times when it came out. It made me feel like anything was possible when you put your mind to it, especially no matter what other people think or say about you. Also it is really hilarious. Not only does being at Harvard and around different people change her for the better, but she also helps others around her to be better and see things in a new light. Don't judge a book by its cover, they might wind up proving you wrong in a court of law. ;) Tori M.

Four guys making fun of being old. I love this movie so much and have watched it so many times that I do know some of lines in the movie. Couldn't help quoting it while watching it. They chose perfect people to be friends on the same screen and an even better place to reunite! The one line that gets me every time is when Sam says, "50 Cent piece," when talking about 50 Cent being the original person who gets the room they got. Then he goes and does the sweet thing of basically denying what his wife told him to do and sleep with other people with her Valium and condom she gave him, because he tells her everything. Tells her everything exciting in his life and that is so sweet that he does that. It is sad that she had to tell him to do that in the first place to get his groove back, but still. Even though this movie is pretty much a good ol' boys comedy, it has a little bit of a romantic element with Paddy losing his wife. The wife who before she married Paddy us

214: Last Song

The movie where they met and we saw them fall in love. I think they really do compliment each other and I am glad that they found their way back to each other. You can tell in this movie the love there is and thanks to Nicholas Sparks for bringing them together. It is a little weird to watch Miley as the angsty, mean teenager in the first half of this movie since I'm used to seeing her kind, happy and funny. She pulled it off because it made me uncomfortable. It kind of reminds me of my dad and I when I watch this. We both share music as a common interest and he taught me everything I know about it with him teaching guitar and stuff. We also had a struggle in really connecting once I got older like these two did. The past few years we have gotten better and watching Ronnie and her dad bond as the movie progressed made me cry. Of course I was not crying as much as my mom. I looked over and she had gotten up to get some tissues. I did go upstairs though and grab my cat Panda w
