235: Maid in Manhattan

Jenny from the block is rocking a new kind of Cinderella story. I like to think this movie relates to Cinderella. When you think about it, it really does. You get someone who cleans and serves other people, people who may or may not be nice to you and she winds up meeting someone while wearing something she normally doesn't with a false name...the only differences are that the love is so true that he would know her from sight, she has a kid and she didn't lose her shoe. Also her love interest, winds up being Voldemort years later in Harry Potter. But love is love. Ha, ha.

I do love this movie though. I would watch this movie and The Wedding Planner all the time growing up. Jennifer Lopez really knows how to convey a love that is truly pure, meaningful and believable. She also works in a position that is hard to go up from in terms of promotion, has all the skills to be a manager and yet is looked at as if she couldn't do it because of what she does, what her name is, what her race is and where she is from. She also has some great friends for doing an application for her to be the manager when she thinks she can't do it or would be looked down upon. Then again, that same friend who did that also had her try on $5,000 clothes and start the ruse of her being rich and living at the hotel she was working at. Tsk, tsk.

Ty, her son in the movie, is just super stinking cute and smart. For someone who has a hard time giving speeches, he is great at helping his mom give into the love he finds for her by accident and going to find that same person to get them back together. Kids sometimes know what is best for adults more than adults know what is best for them. Ty is a perfect example of that. In the end I am glad that it worked out for her and that she finally got to do what she does and even better by managing her own staff and company. Goes to show that you should never hold yourself back or let others hold you back, realize your worth and get out of that box! Prove people wrong. You'll be happier for it, now if only that meant we got the love of our lives at the same time like she did!
