186: Into the Woods

Image
Every time I see this movie it grows on me and I love it more and more. When my mom and I first saw this in theaters with my aunt and her daughter, we thought it was really weird. I remember I didn't like the singing and talking mingling, but then someone bought it for us and I watched it again years ago to give it another try. The love grew...I no longer hated the singing and talking mingling and I no longer thought it was really weird. A third time happened and well you know...then tonight my 4th time and I want to buy the soundtrack!!! I was also crying and almost break down bawling when the Baker's wife was singing to him dead trying to help him calm the baby and tell him he wasn't ever going to be alone. I find it amazing what they achieved on a sound stage in creating the woods they couldn't get from real life where they were shooting. A huge set, if you haven't seen the special features and I watched almost all of those. I was more interested in the cr

185: In Time

Genetically modified humans, where you stop aging at 25 and your time on living starts counting down. I love this movie and the concept of time being something that you have to earn, showing in a new light that time is money and time is your life. If I had time to spare like some of the people in this movie, what would I do with it? Sadly, I don't think I would use it that well and would be afraid of taking risks to die by accident rather than time running out. I am in the category of living day by day with my time and money. I could not imagine having to wonder how much time left I had to live on my arm and worrying about when I would get more or if I would. Time is a really big thing that everyone worries about that. What do we spend our time on in our lives and what do we want to do with our time? Just live in a cycle of day by day, work, sleep and work? If you had all the time in the world, would you waste it or would you do things you have wanted to do on your bucket li

I never really finished the book when it came out way back when I was in Elementary school. For one I had rented it from my school library, then of course had to return it and every kid wanted to read it like crazy, also I just wasn't as into books as I am now and I mean like 2 overflowing bookcases and medium side table that has a hidden cabinet full. I think I would definitely hunt this down, read it and finish it, but I do love the movie. It shows just how magical books can be, I mean I wish that they came to life when you read them out loud like it does in this. But for me when I read books it is like a movie inside my head and I feel what the characters are feeling and it just is as real as this movie makes it feel like it could be. Like the author the gets sent into his book at the end, I wish I could be sent into the books I love or even the book I am writing. Times like these that I wish magic like this was real. The world could use it. Tori M.

183: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Wow. I haven't seen this movie since it was in theaters and watching it years later and for the 2nd time, I have to say that I do like it. I still find it a little weird that they incorporated aliens into it, but it is a great mystery that leads us there. I mean they do have points in there that have been theorized by people that extraterrestrials are the cause of the Pyramids, so they kind of brought that aspect in, even if it is with the Mayans. This movie does hold true to the originals in the way of action and how things are done. Also it takes place in the 50's and that is pretty cool with how they had his son Mutt as a greaser compared to his dad the archaeologist teacher who goes on this amazing fantastical adventures. Today is kind of a meh day for me, I have been trying to be productive, but have a headache that has been threatening the rest of my day. I wish I had more to say that was interesting, other than I don't blame you Indie, I don't like snakes

182: Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Image
It has been a couple years since I have seen this last and I had no idea until I watched it this time, that Heath had died during the production of this movie. I had no idea also that he was financially backing the movie and that the idea to have 3 different actors replace him in the Imaginarium was due to his death. Also that 2 of the 3 of those actors were very dear friends of his. It makes me love this movie even more!! I know it is a little weird and different, but I love how it kind of lets you escape and shows that you can go to another world to choose your path. Albeit that path could lead to death or enlightenment and all because of a wager between a monk and the devil....I do like that it is a movie that you have never seen before. There is comedy and plenty of deceiving going on, but there is more to it than meets the eye. In the end the bet is done, a liar and cheater of death and money has been put to justice, a girl with dreams of a happy normal life and a reformed

181: I, Frankenstein

Image
Gargoyles are pretty badass and I love how they did them and incorporated them. They really made a unique Frankenstein movie that is hard to do. Because I mean, Frankenstein is pretty specifically outlined. My favorite part has to be when Gideon goes to save his queen and transforms from gargoyle to man, wings into robes when he lands. So awesome. The one part that I do not like, think it is lame and should not be there is the very very end. I mean literally when he is standing on the building, his voice over saying I this, and I that, and then finally saying I, Frankenstein. I mean really, that was so lame and cheesy and stupid. The whole movie was fantastic and then you end it with THAT! I do also like how they did the scars on Adam, making it look real and like it could have really happened. They chose a great person to play the main character and I know that most people thought it was okay, but I actually really liked it and did even more so when I saw it in theaters when it

180: Ice Age

Image
I forgot how funny and cute this movie was. I haven't seen it in years and then finding out the voices of all of them was amazing. Also, as an adult I realized they threw in some stuff in there that only an adult would know. For instance, when they saw the frozen space ship in the 'short cut' and then the baby did the Star Trek hand gesture for 'live long and prosper'. I kind of died, that was really funny! Also I love that squirrel, I still have my blue beanie with him on it for winter time. I feel so bad for him though, he just wants to find a save place to hide his nut so he can come back to it and it never works out. Even in the end when he winds up on the beach of an island, frozen in ice with his acorn, and slowly thawing out only for it to get swept away by the tide. For me, the squirrel steals the show and yeah I can say that it is great that the outcasts of the big ice age have come together to find their own herd of sorts while trying to save a baby

179: Huntsman: Winter's War

Image
2nd time seeing this movie and I think I love it just as much as I love Snow White & The Huntsman. 😄😄 Yes I just figured out how to do the actual emoji on my post instead of the colon and parenthesis! Took me long enough, sheesh. Anyways...I think this is the most serious role I have seen Emily Blunt in, I know that she was in "A Quiet Place" but I have not seen that yet! She does a great job of playing an evil snow queen, just like Charlize Theron does an awesome job of being THE evil queen. Sure this was more of a small part of revisiting it, but she still rocked it and honestly sad to see her go. I remembered being so confused when I first saw this when it came out, going back before Snow White and learning about Eric, then going to the point after they 'killed' the evil queen and Snow White became queen. It was not advertised the greatest I remember, by it being said it was a prequel...and then a sequel...really it is both. It is a prequel for the fi

178: How to Train Your Dragon

Image
"Thank you for nothing, you useless reptile." I think I speak for everyone when I say that Toothless is the best dragon and is awesome! Cat/Dog Like and has some very relate able and laughable expressions. When Hiccup had finally hooked back on when they were going on their first flying run, catching the air riding down the mountain side, I love that look of "Ahhhhhhh!!!!" I mean his expressions are just gold anyways with trying to smile and trying to get Hiccup to eat his regurgitated fish in an attempt to share...also don't forget when Hiccup asks him if he caught Astrid and Toothless goes to look and then smile at her. *rolls eyes and shakes head* That dragon. Silly, silly dragon. I have nothing else to say other than if you haven't seen this, why have you not seen this? Go see this! It will make your day and you will fall in love with dragons if you haven't already. Become more knowledgeable about dragons, don't think they are all '

I will never ever think of saying someone's name in a darker voice every again. Whenever my mom does that kind of voice that she does in the movie I keep hearing and thinking the part where she learns their names at the sorority. "Natalie" *dark demonic sounding voice*. It isn't just my mom either, if I hear it anywhere I immediately think of it. I love the comedy in this movie, it is so freaking hilarious. Anna cracks me up sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes and this is one of them with so many great quotes. "The eyes are the nipples of the face." "My heart is beating like a nail." "Sweet balls!" I could go on. Ha, ha. Of course this movie is made by Happy Madison, so you get some of Adam Sandler's friends in there and the comedy fits the type they like to make. I really like this movie beyond the fact of how hilarious it is, but also because it is about fitting in, finding out who you are and who you aren't

176: Hotel Transylvania 2

Image
Little Dennis!!!! Oh my goodness, I don't know if you can get any cuter than little Dennisovich and Winnie. Throughout this whole movie they are trying to get his fangs to sprout and to figure out how to raise him. Human or monster? Dracula is up to his antics with his pals this time and I love how through it all, Dennis is always going to be the sweetest, kindest little boy, even when he does finally get his fangs! I do actually like this movie more than the first one, I think it is because of Dennis that I do. He is just SO cute! Sometimes babies make something great, Dennis happens to be in that sometime. :) There are hard times though in this movie with Mavis wanting to leave Transylvania and move to Santa Cruz to raise Dennis. Wanting a 'normal' live for him and I think she still yearns for that herself. I know she loves her dad and the castle, but I can't help feeling that she kind of resents it. When she goes on vacation with Johnny to where he grew up in

175: Hotel Transylvania

Image
Another movie where Adam Sandler has him and his crazy, funny, wacky friends in it, but in animated family friendly form. This movie makes me think of my dad, getting just as goofy as Dracula does with Mavis. Singing to her while playing guitar, teaching her how to fly...okay so my dad didn't do the flying part, he just lifted me in his arms and pretended I was an airplane. Watching this again I miss my dad, I had him watch it a few years back when we were having one of our hang out days when I still lived in Utah. I do get to see him in a month though! Flying back for my brother's wedding! He found his Zing just like Mavis did. ;) See how I tied that together? This movie is so cute and funny with how it brings about classic monsters and humanizing them. A hotel just for monsters, I think that would be awesome to go to, especially with it being a castle. I mean come on, I was a little jealous of Johnny stumbling in there and blending in. Poor Dracula though, he just wants

174: Hop

Image
"I want candy!" *sings* This movie is super stinking cute. E.B. is so fluffy and adorable and then of course you get comedy with Russell Brand being his voice. You have a few comedians in this movie that do the voice overs and a special live appearance of Russell Brand talking to his animated self. I think some of us can relate to Fred though, trying to find the job we want in life and where we fit in. Not wanting to settle and wanting to do something great. We all have that potential, just not as fantastic as being the actual Easter Bunny! I don't think I could handle being the Easter Bunny honestly, I don't like candy. If I have it, it is very rare when it happens. I don't have much to say about this movie other than it is really cute and ever since this came out I have a movie I can watch on Easter. :) Tori M.

173: Hook

Image
"Rufio! Rufio! Ru-fi-ohhhhhhh!!!!" "Hook, Hook, where's the hook?" "Looky, looky, I got hooky." "Run home Jack! Home run Jack!" I could go on with all the famous quotes from this movie. I love this movie to death, in fact I think I have watched this to death in my younger years. Whenever my cousins would come over---since we lived next door to my grandma---we would go over there, take blankets and pillows and watch this movie over and over again. I mean we watched the crap out of 2 other movies as well, but we went on rotation between Robin Hood: Men In Tights, live action original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and this. I had the biggest crush on Rufio, which I think a lot of girls did back then when this came out. The bad boy who was a lost boy and had a killer name and entrance. Today I am actually really exhausted, so this was the perfect movie to relax to. The fun, the adventure and the magic. I really miss Robin when I wat

172: Home

Image
So I am late in writing this. I watched it last night but then I had to prep food for today for my work, I am cooking for everyone for lunch. We do switch off and I wanted to do it this time. Anyways, I love this movie to death. Jim is the perfect voice for Oh and he just has a very expressive and animated voice anyways. I mean so does Steve Martin who is in this as well, so that makes for an interesting combo. One of the reasons I love this so much is that they kind of talk differently, make up sentences and say, "Can I come in to the out now?" I actually do that myself, I will say weird things or make things up and can kind of relate to that. I can't really pinpoint just what makes this movie fantastic, it is just one of those well-made animations and the actors that are in this really do a great job. I was telling my mom that if there was ever an invasion of Boov we would probably survive like Tip, because I have 2 cats that are always on me and my mom has a do

171: Holiday in the Sun

Image
I have not seen this movie in years!!!! I remember when I first saw it when it came out and how badly this made me want to go to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. Right off the bat though, this is not going to be a glowing post. I did love the storyline and the location of the film, but as for the directing with how the camera was used and the music...it bombed, tanked, sunk to the deep bowels of the earth that no one dare go. It made us motion sick with how it was never dead on the cast, it was always sideways, zooming in and out, going from color to black and white, to up close and suddenly changing scenes and heavily used transitions. I had to look up who the director was on this movie and found out that his whole career is basically directing live concert films. He should stick to that. Yeah, he did a few other Mary-Kate and Ashley stuff like the You're Invited...episodes and a couple other films. *head desk* I cannot express to you just how bad the camera angles were.

170: Holiday

There is always one feel good movie that you watch over and over again until you can quote it while watching it. This is one of them. My mom and I love this movie, a little too much. We quote it while we watch it, laugh each time, cry each time and fall in love each time. This movie is one of the rare occasions that I love Jack Black, it shows that there is more to him than what you think. Also, I mean, Jude Law...and Jude Law as a dad. Watching the behind the scenes and knowing that he was a father of 3 at the time, I can really see why he was so good with the kids in the movie! Mr. Knapkinhead and all his talk about sewing and owning a cow in his backyard. The whole magical majesty of going somewhere new, exchanging homes with a complete stranger--that is not a psycho or creep--finding yourself and love in the process I think speaks to every person who is single and has been single for some time looking for the right one. We did kind of adapt a new tradition into the family fr

169: Hocus Pocus

Image
I think my favorite part of this movie is when they step out of the walk in kiln or furnace at the high school and Winifred walks out asking, "Where is my book?" and then speaks the term in French like the audio tape that lured them in there. That was pure gold. I can't believe I didn't notice that before, but you know I haven't really watched this in years. Yet another Kenny Ortega movie and very memorable and many great quotes. "Amuck, Amuck, Amuck!" "Oh look, another glorious morning. Makes me sick!" "I smell a child." And even the not so memorable quotes, but good quotes nonetheless...."What took you so long Thackery?" "I'm sorry Emily, I had to wait 300 years for a virgin to light a black flame candle." There were some inconsistencies though while watching. Like how does Winifred know what a driver's permit is, or how do they know what margarine is and even more that aren't what is said bu

168: Hobbit - The Battle of the Five Armies

Image
First off...HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!! Now I can get into the movie. This is my 2nd time seeing this one and I forgot that two people died at the end and not just Kili. I mean I cried, I cried really hard when the Elf King told her the reason why it hurt so much was because her love for him was real. My big emotional scale through this movie was, anxiety from all the battle going on, to "come on Thorin, get your head out of your ass", to "YAY THORIN IS BACK", to back heartbreak at the death of Fili, Kili and Thorin, to glad the war was over and Bilbo could go home...of course only to find out his personal effects were being auctioned off. I mean I know there is a lot of CGI in this movie and this one is my least favorite, but not because of that reasoning that is so many others'. I think it is because now they have to defend what they quested for and a lot of death. I mean you can't have a happy ending without fighting for it, but I definitely prefe

167: Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug

Image
"I am fire, I am death!" I think this movie is actually pretty funny. Bombur in the barrel, Bombur running ahead of the whole group when a bear is on their ass...Although there is nothing funny about those spiders. They should be called Spiders of Unusual Sizes. Name THAT movie!!! Ha, ha. I honestly had flashbacks to when I saw this in theaters and just about wanted to crawl into a ball and rock back and forth with those spiders on the big screen and talking! I mean no! Seeing it again I still wanted to do that, just not as bad. No squirming on the couch was as far as it went, even when poor Bombur got stuck underneath one when the rest of the gang pulled the limbs off of it. I do love Thorin, but you can see in this movie, as they get closer to the mountain, just how he is changing and not for the better. The gold addiction is starting to affect him and even Balin calls him out on it. I mean I know it only gets worse, but still. A little annoying and sad. I kept thi

166: Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey

Image
"What's a Bagginses?" I love this movie, at first I was skeptical because when I was younger I never got into the books. Ever. Then of course there was the original animated The Hobbit movie that was watched in Elementary school classrooms where I was concerned. Oh boy that animated movie. *shakes head* Then I saw this and fell in love....also with Thorin Oakenshield. I know, I know, you all probably love elves and Hobbit's, but I am all for the Dwarf King. His nephews I like too, but Thorin wins. I also love when they sing "The Misty Mountain" song in Bilbo's home, it is so beautiful and gives me goosebumps every time. It also happened to make my TV and side table vibrate from the low hum of those bass singing dwarves! I am a little like Bilbo. Set in my ways, love to read, short, happy not going outside and if I do it is only a short distance and short while. So I would easily make Bag End my home if I could. Then of course there is Rivendell.

165: The Hitcher (2007)

Image
There is just something about Sean Bean in a trans am, big car scene with crashes and shooting to the song of Closer by Nine Inch Nails that just feels right. Ha, ha. I love that song anyways, but it makes that scene so much more and badass than if they had used something else. Re-watching this again I felt so anxious! I haven't seen it in a few years, I love this movie though. I mean you get the muscle car, Sean Bean, and I love Sophia Bush as an actress--loved her especially in One Tree Hill. It is the ultimate fear of hitchhikers. Do you pull over, do you drive by? I mean there is a part of everyone I think that wants to do the right thing, but there are also a lot of unknowns out there when it comes to people and the mind. I mean you do kind of have to wonder if at the beginning, when they almost hit him in the rain, if they had just given him a ride to the gas station would they be in the position they were in? I mean the truck driver didn't have a problem with him

164: Hitch

Image
I love this movie, it is so funny and cute. I just wish this was real. I know that there are 'matchmakers' out there, but I mean someone to help you to get over your own insecurities, out of your own way, so then you can talk to someone you like. We all get in our own way don't we? Especially when it comes to asking someone out or dating. There is always a Vance that ruins it, but then there is always an Albert waiting to take you away. I have seen this movie so many times that I can quote it while watching it and I even quote it when I am not watching it. The dance lesson with making the pizza and throwing away the q-tip. Ha, ha. Who are you looking for? An Albert? A Hitch? An Allegra? A Sarah? I think I am more of a Sarah sadly, I expect someone to let me down or want only one thing and that is usually what happens. So like her, I am going to live my life and if something happens, something happens. My Hitch/Albert is out there somewhere. If any of you are struggli

163: High School Musical 2

Image
And it just keeps on getting better! So now there is more fun and not so much refined as the first one. This one has the feel of Dirty Dancing, at least what my mom says...I have never seen that movie, and then you get a little bit of Footloose with Troy having his anger/dance moment on the golf course. There is also the familiar to me St. George in Utah where they filmed. My cousins actually live there and my aunt works at that very resort spa they filmed at. The songs are a little more fun and finely tuned, my favorite has to be You Are The Music In Me. Beautiful with the harmonizing, I mean Zac and Vanessa have great voices and especially together. These movies really make me want to get up and dance and sing along with them. Memories and energy! I did sing along, but my energy is a little depleted after a busy work week last week and also went on my first walk of the year. So this really is the perfect movie to see today with how beautiful it is outside and enjoying all the n

162: High School Musical

Image
I still remember, after all these years, the dance moves to We're All In This Together, ha, ha! I did it with the movie. I also went to school with 2 people who were extras in this movie, as it was filmed at the East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah and I am originally from Utah. Sharpay had the best outfits in this movie and I recall how everyone had a huge crush on Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) when this came out, I was not one of them...he was just okay. But today I find him really good looking. I mean he grew into his looks. This movie really made me want to get into musical theater when I was little and I loved being a part of my school's production of Cinderella and Crazy for You. I have always been a musical freak because I grew up on the classics. When you grow up with certain movies, you remember that yeah they got bashed years later, but during it it was amazing. I will continue to love High School musical, even though at first it was kind of a secret love with me

161: Hercules & Xena: The Battle for Mount Olympus

Image
MY CHILDHOOD!!!! I have to say right off the bat that the Warning for copyright infringement was a little funny, because it mentioned 'videodisc' rather than DVD. So you know that they pretty much just copied it from the VHS to a disc and added the word disc. It also just jumps right into the movie with no main menu. That is how old this movie is. I also still remember the songs! Especially "Across the Sea of Time", but oh man that Titan song was hilarious! Boom shaka-laka-laka. I kind of died a little and was laughing pretty good. I have to mention the facial expressions too, they did a good job of likeness for the actors and actresses from the TV shows, but you get even more overacting and editing when you put it in cartoon mode. But even though it is cheesy and old, I still love it. I mean it is a classic from growing up for me and when I have kids someday they will watch this too. Hercules and Xena are the dream team. Tori M.

160: Herbie Fully Loaded

Image
"I am being carjacked by my own car!" Herbie is back and as cute and sassy as ever. He has come into the time of stock cars and monster trucks. I really like this movie because it reminds me of when I used to work at the racetrack with my mom and brother. Yes, my mom got us our first jobs and that is what it was. We grew up going to the racetrack and hanging out in the tower watching my mom work and watching the cars go around. I have never actually seen the older original Herbie movies, but it was cool during the opening scene of the movie it shows bits and pieces of those movies before it explains the, "Where is he now?" Sadly he has been reduced to the junk yard, only to be saved by a racing family as a normal car. Well...not for long. It only took him maybe a good hour before he was on the streets racing against Maggie's wishes. Ha, ha. I will say that when this movie came out I wanted a car just like Herbie. The closest I ever got was a VW bug for

159: The Help

Image
You is kind, you is smart and you is important. I think everyone needs to remember this and say this about themselves, no matter what race, where you come from, or who you are. I remember when this first came out, I was working at a new movie theater nearby my house and people were coming out saying just how amazing it was. When I finally saw it for myself, I couldn't have agreed more with how truly amazing this movie is and the book it is based off of. I have read the book and loved it. I have watched the movie and loved it just as much. This will be one of my favorites just for the fact that it brings people together and shows that there are good people in the world seeking to help others. It shows a past that saddens me and I know that on some level, we are still fighting as a whole for equality and just common decency and respect. I think everyone loves the part where Minnie feeds Hilly a pie full of her own shit. "You ate not one, but two pieces!!" I also love

158: Hellboy

Image
Ron Perlman as Hellboy. It will be weird to see the new Hellboy next year with someone else playing him, but I will always love this one even if I do wind up liking the reboot. Yeah it is a little cheesy, but not all of this is CGI and it very well could have been. The red ape/monkey who loves cats, lives like a cat lady and eats like the Rock on a cheat day. Not much to say about this movie other than it is awesome and glad it is Friday!!!! Tori M.

157: Haunted Mansion

Image
"Do you believe in ghosts Mr. Evers?" That one question and tunnel vision on the sale with real estate that starts a night not to be forgotten. I remember when this movie came out and I saw it in theaters, the part in the mausoleum scared the living daylights out of me. Zombies. I have a problem is zombies and by problem I mean fear. Now don't get me wrong, I love the Walking Dead show and Resident Evil, but I can't play games with zombies without freaking out. It took me a long time to be able to watch Walking Dead. Anyways, ghosts. I don't know about you guys/gals, I believe in ghosts. In case you can't tell by the G's in this challenge with most of them with the word Ghost in it. ;) I love the fact that this movie is the tamer, not raunchy side of Eddie Murphy. Also the fact that the actual ride at Disneyland inspired the movie. I have yet to actually go to Disneyland, but I have been to Disneyworld on numerous occasions due to my grandpa living

156: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Image
So watched it all tonight, ha, ha. To remedy what I had said before about the 3 deathly hallows being used to destroy one or the other, just goes to show that I have only seen this once and that was when it first came out in theaters the midnight showing. So...with that out of the way, the battle happened and all the horcruxes were destroyed. My favorite part of this movie has to be when Snape is revealed to be good and to always have been on their side. Yeah it is a tearjerker moment, but it is a huge truth teller about what happened at the end of 6 and throughout 7. Also, who else doesn't love Mrs. Weasley calling Beletrix a bitch and ending her reign of terror. Don't mess with a mother protecting her young. I personally believe that it could have ended differently by leaving off the 19 years later. I know why it was there, but it felt like it should have just left off with them being their age. But whatever. *shrugs* Personal opinion. Anways, that concludes the end of

155: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

Image
The first thing I am going to say is that the locations for filming outside in this film are truly astounding. Makes me want to go outside and take lots of pictures and bask in the trees and water around. The other thing is....DOBBY!!!! He is back and funny, "Who gets his wand?" "Dobby didn't mean to kill. Dobby meant to maim or seriously injure." Then Beletrix had to go and kill him. That ending, I remember in theaters I bawled and now I had to hold back because I didn't want dry eyes and puffy face in the morning. I love that you can really see just how much Voldemort being alive has put doubt into the Malfoy family. Hagard, scared and not sure that they are on the right side. I don't have much to say about this film watching it again, it really is kind of just constant moving about and revealing just what the Deadly Hallows are and learning that together, the three create the great death. Which I think you all know is what will actually allow H
