186: Into the Woods




Every time I see this movie it grows on me and I love it more and more. When my mom and I first saw this in theaters with my aunt and her daughter, we thought it was really weird. I remember I didn't like the singing and talking mingling, but then someone bought it for us and I watched it again years ago to give it another try. The love grew...I no longer hated the singing and talking mingling and I no longer thought it was really weird. A third time happened and well you know...then tonight my 4th time and I want to buy the soundtrack!!! I was also crying and almost break down bawling when the Baker's wife was singing to him dead trying to help him calm the baby and tell him he wasn't ever going to be alone.

I find it amazing what they achieved on a sound stage in creating the woods they couldn't get from real life where they were shooting. A huge set, if you haven't seen the special features and I watched almost all of those. I was more interested in the creation of it all. I imagine I am going to be singing this in my sleep and quite possibly at work tomorrow. "Into the woods!!" Randomly coming out already. Musicals are just a fantastic part of who I am and I am glad that my grandma and mom got me into them.

168: Hobbit - The Battle of the Five Armies

First off...HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!! Now I can get into the movie. This is my 2nd time seeing this one and I forgot that two people died at the end and not just Kili. I mean I cried, I cried really hard when the Elf King told her the reason why it hurt so much was because her love for him was real. My big emotional scale through this movie was, anxiety from all the battle going on, to "come on Thorin, get your head out of your ass", to "YAY THORIN IS BACK", to back heartbreak at the death of Fili, Kili and Thorin, to glad the war was over and Bilbo could go home...of course only to find out his personal effects were being auctioned off. I mean I know there is a lot of CGI in this movie and this one is my least favorite, but not because of that reasoning that is so many others'. Back to basics. To the animal side. The Furian side. Let's be honest here, the dog stole the show. We all want Riddick's dog, that one, not his brother or his sister, that dog. Now that that is cleared up, I do like that they went back to the rated R that this movie is and deserves. Yeah I do love the Chronicles of Riddick movie, a lot and it is my favorite, but there is something lacking. With this you also get the whole survival of the fittest, lone wolf, in the middle of nowhere man trying to find his home and who he is again. It also wouldn't be Riddick without throwing it back to the Pitch Black days. Aliens that come out in the cover of darkness or in this case, rain. Then you also get the father of the man who was being a douchebag in Pitch Black. You know, the one that wanted to kill the girl to save his own skin? Yeah that one. Glad to know that his father is a better man than he was, but kind of sad to watch him find out the horrible thing about his son.
