154: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Image
Harry Potter just keeps getting darker and darker. Also more complex is the world of love. Hermoine is showing how much she really is crushing on Ron, unbeknownst to Ron, and Ginny and Harry are having a hard time finding the right moment. I do like how in this movie you get to see that Draco is not as bad as he tries to make everyone think. It hurts him to kill a bird and to curse people with objects and he can't bring himself to kill Dumbledore. Goes to show that you don't have to be your parents and that there are more choices in life than good or bad. We are in the final showdown coming up for the students at Hogwarts. The lighting and tone has gotten darker and the drama and tense feeling has been skyrocketed. Dumbledore always has a way of knowing things. Whether it is knowing where Harry is and what his friends are up to and knowing to trust Snape, knowing that he would appear to betray him and kill him. He knows that things had to happen the way they did in order

Hagrid has a brother??? Okay, ha, ha, half brother but that is not the whole plot of the movie. I have never hated someone more in my life than I do Umbridge. She is rotten and irritating with her ahem and high cough and that actress did a great job of being horrible. Now, in the book she was worse to me it seemed than in the movie, but they did a good job of portraying just how dastardly she is. This was the last book of Harry Potter I read, I loved it so much and then seeing it in theaters with high expectations and being let down...I know now why you should never go into a movie with high expectations, especially when it is based off of a book. Also I love Snape, I still have a crush on him and always will I expect. Watching this again, knowing what is going to happen in the next coming movies, I am glad that J.K. Rowling brought back the Wizarding World. Even though Harry, Ron and Hermoine are not back, I think we all need magic in our lives. This gives us the escape from re

Lord Voldemort is back, watch out wizards and witches! Ha, ha. Out of all of the Harry Potter movies, this one is my favorite. The long hair trend has run amok with the males and the teenage years of dating and asking people to a dance shows the awkwardness and huge flare of drama that arises with it. Also we get Cedric, who not only dies but then moves on to become the sparkly vampire we all know as Edward Cullen in Twilight. I think I prefer him in Harry Potter though and yes it is a real tearjerker when he dies. His dad crying like that shows just how the loss of a child can effect someone and they can barely even stay upright. I hope in the future I never know the loss of my own child and for those that have in the world, know that we all care deeply for you. I think my favorite part of the movie is the dragons. Fire, flying and a really good job of realism in this movie. Also Mad Eye Moody is hilarious! Even if it was the fake Moody in the movie, still...that actor is great

I have to say right off the bat, that I knew I knew Marge Dursley from somewhere...Matilda as Miss Trunchbull. She deserved to be inflated like balloon and Dudley deserved every flying button to the face. Now that that is off my chest, lets talk about those Dementors. They did a really good job of making them scary and you feel the dread when they arrive on the screen. Also when the part of the Boggart came, I had to kind of wonder what my worst fear would be and what it would take on. I have a few fears, but deep down it would be interesting and yet scary to see it come to life. Then of course poor Neville had to be picked first and seeing Snape dressed in Neville's grandmothers clothing was just the perfect amount of brilliance! Did you know they made an adorable and awesome POP! vinyl figure of it? So Harry finally finds out the reason why his parents died and that he also happens to have a Godfather that he didn't know about. Hagrid teaches about monsters and we get

So this movie, I remember loving it so much when it came out. Draco matured a bit more and my crush on him just soared as well as my crush for Daniel for a brief moment. My least favorite part of this movie is the part where they go into the dark forest and meet Aragog the giant spider. The babies freak me out too, but when you have a non-CGI creature that huge and a spider...I was squirming. When you can brush a spider with a barbie hair brush, that is just too much and just a big fat NO for me. Ha, ha. Who else noticed that in this movie Ron got funny? He wasn't that funny in the first one, but now he is pretty much the comic relief with his facial expressions. He is VERY expressive. Just like I am and I have no eyebrows. I have to mention the polyjuice potion. That just made me want to throw up or gag watching them drink it. Kind of like a nasty grey protein shake and then you add hair to it to drink. This is also the last Harry Potter that the original Dumbledore was i

The wizarding world is back! I love this movie, I have only read the 2nd, 3rd and 5th books of Harry Potter. I never really got that into it and I had a hard time getting past how it started on some. My favorite was the 5th, but I was very disappointed seeing the movie after reading it. Then I pretty much just gave up and watched the movies, thought it was better to not get my hopes up. But anyways, the start of the adventure of Harry and his friends. I can't believe how little they were. So darn cute. After this movie, everyone--my brother and myself included--wanted the Every Flavored Beans and the chocolate frogs. I remember getting a booger or vomit one once and threw up. I can still remember the taste. *shudders* I don't know how many times when I was little, when this first came out, I watched this. Even going over to my cousin's for a sleepover and the next day we would act out with the movie as if we were witches and wizards too. "Leviosa not Leviosaw.&q

Just look at that cute little face!!!! Oh my goodness, this is my second time seeing this one and it has been a while since I have seen it. I forgot how hilarious Bill and Will the Krill are! They totally steal the show on this movie. "One in a krillion." "Where there's a krill there's a way." Wanting to adapt and go up on the food chain, trying to eat the leopard seal. I couldn't stop laughing! When you get Brad Pitt and Matt Damon as krill...*shakes head* They are too goofy for their own good! Then you get the cutest thing ever! Little tiny Erik and his pals. Erik is the smallest of the bunch, who doesn't understand why you dance or why you sing, wants to fly and do his own thing...just like his dad Mumble did in the 1st movie. Then that song at the end trying to get the elephant seals to help them get the other Emperor penguins out of the whole they are stuck in from a glacier. Opera! Opera in a little tiny cute freaking voice of a peng

What a great movie to start the day! So cute, I love baby Mumble with his little voice and fluffiness. There are 3 actors in this movie that are no longer with us: Steve Irwin as on of the Elephant seals, Brittany Murphy as Gloria, and finally the master Robin Williams as Lovelace/Ramon. I love this movie on so many levels, the songs are fantastic. Especially how it starts with a Prince song, we Minnesotans and the world miss you! I also love that it involves 2 of my favorite passions, dancing and singing. Now I don't know about you, but it is super stinking sad that Mumble doesn't fit in and people dislike him and shun him. Just because he can't sing. Then he is older and finds some wild, wacky, and all around amazing group of friends that are smaller than him, do things different than him, but are so accepting of everyone. This movie really shows how you can find love and friends in the strangest of places, from the strangest of situations. You won't always fit

Jeremy Renner in leather. He is really as good looking on screen as he is in person, I know because I met him at Salt Lake Comic Con a few years back and got a picture with him. Anyways, the movie was awesome, but honestly my mind was elsewhere throughout it. So I would pause it to kind of play Oxenfree on my Switch for a little bit and then play it and watch it. It helped because today I am actually doing a little better. I am not as tired as I have been, nor as weak, and light headedness is going away...but that is all because I was put on Pedialyte and rest. I won't be able to go back to work till Thursday, but on my 2nd liter of Pedialyte and have maybe 1 more to go for tomorrow. I love how dark this movie is and not dark like you think, but color wise. It is set in the perfect period and how they did the makeup on the witches and troll was great. When you can do a fantastic job and not have to do special effects to make it look believable. I know that the scri

Okay who didn't love watching the good shows that used to be on Disney Channel? I loved this show and Miley, I still do. Even though she had a weird phase...but you know a lot of popular celebrities doe. They do weird stuff and then somehow find themselves, usually when they go from their younger self to who they are as an adult and person. Kind of like what we do as non-celebrities, but you know we are just not in the limelight all the time when we do stupid things. Watching it again, I love how homey it feels. I love the country and animals. Her going back to her roots and I of course got emotional while watching her sing Butterfly Fly Away with her dad, because it reminds me of my dad and how he would take care of me when I was little when my mom was away in the city at work. He is still alive, so don't think that he isn't, he just is back in the state I am from that never felt like home even when I was too young to know better. Now I have get better faster, ha, ha,

This movie is a blast. You can tell while watching this and the special features, just how much fun they had on set. Adam and his friends, because that is what they are. Ball busting, pestering and not-censored group of comedians. I love how this movie is not just a reunion of pals, it is also about getting back to the good ol' days of playing outside and finding something to do besides looking at your phone or watching tv. I mean that literally is what happens to the kids in this film, what with Adam's kids in this being spoiled and not appreciating what his dad has been trying to teach them. Even his wife in the movie learns that there is more to family and focusing on the moment and life, that she comes back to earth. Yeah, she did basically ruin the Tooth Fairy for her daughter when she realized it, but I mean...those moments tend to happen. There are times when how they are being friends, it makes me cringe with how harsh they get on the ribbing. But I have notice

I think by now you know I am pretty honest. I don't like this movie. I said I hated it, but I think dislike is more appropriate and the reason being is that I just don't like Bill Murray as a lead. When he is supporting, he is not that bad, there are others to kind of balance him out. My mom loves this movie, but I can't stand it. Not saying that it is bad, because everyone else is fine, I just do not like Bill Murray. Ghostbusters he is great, in Charlie's Angels...great. But again, he had other main characters beside him or he was supporting in a small part. I know it is supposed to be about a guy that is a massive jerk who has to learn a lesson and turn a new leaf. I can't explain it, but I just don't like it. I COULD say that it is because of what he does before he becomes good, or even when he is good he is kind of smug, or the fact that it would drive me nuts and does drive me nuts to live the same day over and over again watching him do selfish things

There are quite a few movies that I grew up on and this was a BIG one. We would listen to the soundtrack in the car all the time, I learned how to harmonize with this on Summer Night and The Kinley's as well, but this still gets credit on learning. Whenever Look At Me I'm Sandra Dee came out, we got silly and would mimic Rizzo. I remember skipping over the Beauty School Drop Out song because we didn't like it--still don't *shudders*. Every now and then the Brusha Brusha song would get stuck in our heads, especially nowadays. I love this movie so much and who didn't have a big time crush on John Travolta in this or even Kenickie his best friend? Growing up with this, I would act out the scenes with Sandy walking around my living room singing her sorrows outside Frenchie's at the slumber party, talking about the guy she met over Summer vacation, deciding to let go of her good girl image to be with Danny and then sassing it up at the school fair. One time my

I remember that when I was younger, I was actually scared of Goosebumps. I read maybe 2 and that was more than enough for me. The one that scared me the most was called 'Welcome to Horrorland'. I mean most of the covers scared me when I was younger that I steered clear of them, but I remember watching the episodes they had on television and the Horrorland was the one that pretty much sealed the deal for me. Nope, no more. Then you rush years later when this comes out...and I love it. The only part that I don't like is the clown, I HATE clowns--the exception being the Joker and the clown from Nightmare Before Christmas, I know that is weird of me. There are only a handful of movies that I like of Jack Black's, just because he can be so raunchy that it makes me uncomfortable, but he has been sort of mellowing it out as the years go. What I love the most about this movie is that it involves the actual author being in the movie and his stories coming to life. Yes, the

"HEY YOU GUYYYSSS!" I watched this last night, but went straight to bed because I was tired. Still trying to get over this nasty virus. It has been 2 freaking weeks. I am ready for it to be over, but it is lingering. Anyways, Goonies...It has been some time since I have seen it and I could've sworn there was a giant octopus where the pirate ship was in that cave but that might have been a different movie that I cannot recall. This movie is still a classic, has an Indiana Jones vibe to it when they are going through the tunnels filled with booby traps, or as Data says "Booty Traps. That's what I said, Booby Traps." While watching I couldn't help but notice that the word "guys" was a very popular word throughout it, used in many different ways. "Hey guys", "Hey you guys", "Guys", "Come on guys", etc. It got kind of funny along the way of noticing it, I bet one of you out there is going to find that a g

139: Good Luck Chuck

Image
I have seen this movie a handful of times. Dane Cook is hilarious! One day I would love to see one of his shows in person, but have never had the time to do so or the money. So I watch movies that have him in it or his specials on Comedy Central once in a while. Now I own the Unrated version of this, because at the time there was not the normal option when I bought it and that is fine. It may be...what is the word...it definitely is one of those movies that is not afraid of showing and telling the nature of how life goes. Ha, ha. But I love how Charlie is just a normal guy who wants to feel love and hasn't had the opportunity until Cam. A clumsy, bad luck, penguin loving girl. He has the good luck, but not really for him, of whenever he is with a woman they wind up getting married to Mr. Right after they leave him. So we have a bad luck and a good luck. Usually that says that they could balance each other out, but Charlie is worried that with how his "good luck" h

A very big movie of my childhood. See I grew with a parent who worked at a racetrack as a scorekeeper. My mom, she loved cars and still does, so this movie easily became a staple of growing up for me. My first ever dream car growing up was Eleanor. Go Baby Go, the roar and purr of the engine...this movie brought forth the love of cars for me. Especially the love of muscle cars. This was also my first Angelina Jolie movie, it was my 2nd Nicolas Cage movie (City of Angels being the 1st), and the birth of a love of "Low Rider" as well. Yeah they are stealing cars, and yes he is doing it in order to get his brother out of debt and out of the grave, but who cares when it has cars??!! Gorgeous cars of every make and model, like a kid in a candy shop, except this doesn't satisfy the taste buds, it satisfies the ears and eyes. I could go more into depth with this movie, but I would rather just tell you to go watch it yourself and bask in it. And that is what I am going to

137: Godzilla

Image
I have never seen Godzilla, any of the movies EVER. Until now. The giant King of Monsters has been revived for the new age. It was a good movie, but I am really glad that this movie is my mom's. I personally would have rather watched Jurassic Park if I am going to watch a giant beast fight with other beasts. You know? I would not go out of my way to watch this again, but I will say that there was no flaw with the movie. The movie was good, I am just not into Godzilla. I am not really into the whole story. That is JUST ME people. Just me. So what I write here is not a bashing, just kind of eh in my own opinion. Not everyone likes the same movies, that is fine. We have proved that with people not liking Daredevil, Batman & Robin, etc, and some people liking that. I admit that Godzilla was very cool with how he looked, but the other things made me think of Stranger Things a little. To me the movie was nothing new and I am fine with not loving it. I like it, think it is good,

Another one bites the dust. I was watching this again and I used to really like it when I first got it maybe 6 or 7 years ago. My friend from Canada had recommended it because it had werewolves. At the time I was also fighting some problems with depression that I hadn't had help for. Now that I am in a good place and made the effort to really watch it to make sure I wanted it and for old times sake...I am going to be releasing it from my ownership. I still like werewolves, but the darkness that is heavily imbued in this film has actually become too much for me. The gore will never be a problem, but the heavy dark topics that the two sisters go through and are fascinated have made my stomach clench. I will say that the werewolf aspect was great and it was well written, the effects not so much, but it was made in 1999 so I can't be too picky on that. It might be a hard one to shake for me, just because it brought up some memories of when I was not happy and going through a

Ugh, so it is the afternoon and it is STILL SNOWING! On the bright side, I think my flu is over. I was able to keep food down yesterday, but it still has to be bland. Which means I will be eating really blandly for a week or at least a few days. My guess is probably a week with how messed up my system is. Anyways, GI JOE! I never had one growing up and neither did my brother, but I really like the movie. It has been a while since I have seen this movie and I forgot how it liked to jump suddenly from past memories. I do like it, but it's not the BEST action film. Watching it this time around I think I have decided to just have it for those action binges that happen at times. Also I mean it does have Channing in it. Who doesn't love Channing? I know some people don't, but I remember first seeing him in She's The Man and then after that he kind of got more jobs in movies. I like how at the end they set it up for the sequel with The Rock, but at the same time I feel l

134: Ghost Ship

Image
I am going to be honest...I bought this 6+ years ago because it had Karl Urban. I did that with a few movies he was in like Price of Milk (no longer in my collection, couldn't get past the weirdness and it being over a quilt and cows), Doom, Pathfinder and I fully intend on seeing another movie with him in it if it shows up on Netflix/Hulu or is cheap to rent on Prime. Anyways, off of Karl and his rugged, long haired, plaid-ness. Apparently my mom hadn't seen this in a long time and while we were watching it, the opening reminded her of a Disney movie and not just any Disney movie but Tower of Terror. The pink credits, the music, the 1960's setting and the fact that people died before completely vanishing and leaving a boat behind. Throughout the movie I saw the similarities. A little girl. Same time period. A beautiful woman who sings. Someone you think is human who seeks help but is really a ghost. The gore is where it takes a very sharp turn away from Disney compar

133: Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance

Image
It isn't like I haven't seen this before, but when you watch it right after the 1st one you can tell the quality has improved. I mean the 1st one is great, but you really get to experience the craziness of the Ghost Rider within Johnny. Not to mention he turned this huge mining or whatever it was machine into his fire weapon/ride. My favorite parts have to be when that music starts to signify the badassery of the rider and the other part when the boy Danny figures out that he has the same powers as his dad the devil. He then proceeds to jump onto Johnny and scream fire back into him. Yes, I just spoiled and do I really care? No! Because it was awesome! I admit I had a huge problem with the fact that they didn't respect the wishes of Peter Fonda as the original devil in the 1st movie, he wanted to reprise the role but gave it to someone else instead. The guy, in my opinion just acted like Fonda did in the 1st and was trying too hard. But I guess if you go with the logi

132: Ghost Rider

Image
Here it comes! This movie is awesome, I love the fire, the bike...oh don't get me started on the bike and it on fire and badass looking. You might not be a Nicolas Cage fan, but I grew up watching him in City of Angels and Gone in 60 Seconds (which will be another one on the goal). I remember seeing this when it first came out and thinking this was the coolest thing ever.  Then you get "Ghost Riders In The Sky" playing when he is driving through the desert alongside the other ghost rider played by Sam Elliot, going to deal with the devil's son and save the damsel in distress. I also had the biggest, and kind of still do just in this movie, crush on the devil's son. *dies a little* War of emotions for the awesomeness of Nicolas Cage all skeleton and flame and then the son of the devil who is all blue and shadow and bad. I tell you guys out there, the jonesing for the bad guy is a REAL and TRUE thing. Don't get me wrong we like the good guys too, but every

When there is a new take on A Christmas Carol, you not only have a rich guy, but you also have a player. Someone who learns to become unattached to women and living all the good things in life with none of the heartbreak. Matthew McConaughy is actually a pretty funny and good looking man. He is perfect for this role. Coming up on this movie again in the goal just made me realize how much I actually kind of like this movie. I found it actually kind of funny that when they went into the past for him, Jenny (Jennifer Garner's character) was played by the same girl who played her back in 13 Going On 30. I guess if you find someone who works and looks close enough to the actress, why not use her for another past sequence in a different movie? This movie kind of makes me look back into my own past, not so much in the way of Connor but more so in Jenny's character. Now I never knew anyone like Connor as the player, but I knew someone as the good guy he was before his uncle too

130: Ghostbusters 2016

Image
As a fan of the original, I can say that they really did a good job of paying homage to it. References and bringing back the original cast as much as that they could...RIP Egon (notice the beginning with the statue). I really like that it is a group of women. I admit that at first when I first heard about it via Ernie Hudson off his Facebook, I was as skeptical as he was. Then I saw it and couldn't stop laughing and loving it. I remember on the ride home from the theater my mom and I could not stop talking about it. Each comedian that took up the roll on the team made their own mark in the present time and day that the Ghostbusters were thrust into. The effects on the ghosts were stunning and you can tell that we have come a long way when you watch the 1st and 2nd to the remake. The part that maybe made me laugh the most and related to the most was when Patty told the mannequins to not move. I hate dolls myself and that part...she voiced all my thoughts and feelings. I know

So I guess with blogging, you just talk. Well I don't know about you but who else saw this when they were little and got freaked out? I mean that scene where she puts her baby in the bathtub filling with ectoplasmic goop. Now I haven't seen this in a long time. I mean I haven't seen this since I was maybe 6 or so. Not even in the teens. All I know is that it disturbed me and my mom, but my mom loves Ghostbusters and got the collection of the two bundled up. I remember the gist of the movie, so re-watching it this time now that I am 25...older...maybe wiser...maybe my opinion of it will change, then again maybe that guy in the painting who wants to steal her baby will always be creepy. So for now I am going to save this post and then pop on down below this for my review of it once I am done watching it. *presses play* After: Well not as good as the first, with the memorable quotes, but you know it holds its own. They got scarier with the ghosts and I forgot some

So stuck at home with round 2 of the flu. I told my mom I would wait to watch it with her since she loves this movie to death. I got her the limited figures a while back too and a glow in the dark Slimer. If that is any indication we also have the sequel and the remake. But first the original. :)

127: Ghost

Image
This is my second time watching this movie. This movie is actually my mom's, since I am not only watching the movies I own, but the movie's she owns because I have bought some for her and also we share the same house. Some of the are family movies and we both like a LOT of a the same movies haha, So we shall see how I think of this movie after having not seen it for a good 5 years or so. Forgot that Whoopi Goldberg was in it and just right now at the part where he runs into her trying to swindle a woman. Not knowing that she really is a psychic. :)

Taking Advice and Blogging About It

Welcome! So I have obviously already started this goal of mine, but my mom's coworker suggested that I blog about my goal. I started it the beginning of this year and have 365 days to complete it, with over 420 movies to watch that I own. My mom's coworker mentioned that it was the topic of the day of what movie we are on at their lunch table, since I tag her on movies on Facebook. I have been using Facebook currently to keep track and myself accountable for the movies that I have watched so far. I actually have attempted this goal in the distant past, but only made it to the B's. Without further ado, here are the movies that I have seen so far: 1. 10th Kingdom - now yes I know that it was technically a tv mini series but I view it as a movie in my books. 2. 10 Things I Hate About You 3. 13 Going On 30 4.17 Again 5. 27 Dresses 6. 500 Days of Summer 7.Accidental Husband 8. Ace Ventura 9. Agent Cody Banks - Now who remembers this one growing up??? 10. Agent C
