213: Last Holiday

Image
I love the message about this movie. Basically that no matter what you should go for your dreams, be yourself, be honest, say what is on your mind, eat that meal that you want to make on that cooking show, go on that trip you have on your bucket list. Just go and do it. Don't wait for it to be too late or when you are going to die. Life can be too short, especially for unknowns and that is pretty much every day that is going to come. You have no idea what tomorrow will bring. If you found out that you had 3 weeks to live like Georgia did, what would you do? I would probably do what she did and leave the country. I would go and travel to all the places I want to in Europe and not limit myself. We all kind of live day to day, paycheck to paycheck and worried about rejection and taking risks. Since I moved here, I have been doing more things outside of my box of comfort because I know that I will have experiences and fun that I wouldn't have. I also love this movie because

212: Lake House

Image
Finding your soul mate through time and letters. Also jealous because it all happens on a lake, I mean the house is interesting, but I need something a little more homey and where people can't see what I do 24/7. This is my second time watching this and I think I like it more this time around, besides I do tend to love a good Sandra Bullock movie. Keanu is an extra bonus, even though I am used to him being the infamous Ted S. Preston Esquire. I never got into the Matrix that so many others did. It is a very hot day outside today, it was also not fun with it being so hot in a restaurant where I work. I would give anything to be at a lake house like Kate and Alex in this movie. Makes me want to go up North and away from so much civilization and enjoy the trees and water like Kate describes she loves in her letter to him. I know that this movie is also sad, what with time being cruel in the sense that their lives collided in many ways and even where she was there when he died i

211: Lady & The Tramp

Image
Yes, I sang along with this movie. Siamese cat song, Bella Notte, the pound howling, 'He's A Tramp', la da doo and even mouthed along to some of the words they said. I grew up on this movie and I haven't seen it for a long time. Watching it now that I am older, I know more things like when they take the hyper dog shadow to the keep out room in the pound...he wouldn't be coming back and the dogs knew that and said as much to Lady. Disney is good at taking topics that adults understand and just floating them right under kids noses. Also they had one person voice multiple people in this movie, as well as lots of voices I recognized from Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty--I'm looking at you blue fairy now voicing Lady--Peter Pan...they recycled so many voice actors during this time period of certain Disney movies. Nowadays they mix it up, well at least a bit. I know that Alan Tudyk gets around, but that is Alan Tudyk. That man has a lot of voices he can do.

210: Labyrinth

David Bowie! Even though I was young, I had a huge crush on him in this movie. It all in the way he looked too and the way he acted. I kind of had a thing for older guys when I was really little, ha, ha. This movie has all the feels and nostalgia. The music which was awesome and you can tell just how old it is when you watch it and then the way they did Hoggle and the puppets. If you haven't seen the making of this movie, you really should. It is really cool how they executed everything. I will say though that my least favorite part of this movie is The Fire Gang. They are so creepy. They have always freaked me out with the disembodiment they do constantly. Also the way they move, when you watch the behind the scenes and find out that the puppet is on a black body suit that people would wear to do it... There are just some things that have stayed with me from this movie, like whenever someone says, "Don't go that way," I think of the labyrinth worm. Or when so

209: Knocked Up

Image
Officially back home and it is great to be back. I missed my car, my house, my babies (cats and dog). Speaking of babies, this is the last K movie. This movie shows you what all comes with pregnancy and especially unplanned ones, even zooming in on the parts where she is actually giving birth. I don't know just how much is not shown on the normal rated R version, because I have the Unrated and Unprotected version, but I can tell you right now that I don't want anyone filming when I give birth whenever that is in the future. This movie is definitely funny and does borderline uncomfortable at times, that is usually how Seth Rogen works. Watching this I did realize that only people that had their same first names in this movie were Seth's friends in the movie. Jason, Jay, Martin, Jonah. I guess that made that easy for them. I have only seen this movie, counting this time, 4 times and it is good for when you just are having a blah day and need a laugh and to also look at

208: Knight's Tale

Image
So I didn't post yesterday, why? Because it was my brother's wedding that is why!!! It was the best thing ever, I cried and laughed and now I have a sister, which I have always wanted. This week has been so surreal just watching him get married, meeting my cousins kids, reuniting with an old friend that I haven't seen since elementary school and getting back together with my two besties. I am going to miss my friends for sure, but I am ready to go home...my true home. I miss Minnesota, I miss my cats and my dog, I miss my car and work believe it or not. I can't say I relate to Will in A Knight's Tale though, he actually missed his home where he grew up and it was home for him. Mine was not. I found my home away from my birthplace. Some do. I love this movie so much, I quoted it while watching it and it does bug me a little that they aren't entirely period with this movie which they could have been. What I mean by that is that they took some liberties with

207: Killers

Image
The one thing I remember is that my mom doesn't like this movie that much, I mean she likes it but she finds it okay. I on the other hand actually really like it, I mean Ashton does have a more mature way of acting in this movie being a spy so that is a little different for him...but when you pair him with Katherine Heigl's humor of freak out comedy it is not that bad. She is really good at being the one who is thrown into a bad situation and watching her handle it. When he tells her to spread her legs in their truck and then cut a slid in the seat cushion to pull out a gun and give it to her, she is screaming with it in her hands palm up, not even holding it, more like acting like a shelf for it, as he is be chased by who he thought was his friend, that is my favorite part. Then she finds out that she might be pregnant during all of this as well as finding out in the end it was her dad that had put the hit out on her husband. It is kind of the funny side of the serious

206: Kid in King Authur's Court

Image
The movie that started it all and before he went to Aladdin's Palace he went back to the round table. In fact he was the one who came up with the round table, weird huh? Ha, ha. Yet again I must mention the inconsistencies with the laws of time travel. Even the fact that he used his laser disc reader for his walkman to blind a guard...I'm sorry but they were never that strong and even then wouldn't work without the CD. Just saying. I also had no idea that Kate Winslet and Daniel Craig were in this film, I haven't seen it in many years otherwise I would have remembered that fact. I did remember that Kate Winslet as the princess wound up being the Black Knight, so that is a bonus for remembering that crucial part. I do have to say I like the 2nd one better, not saying I don't like this one, the 2nd was just less cheesy. Well I don't have much else to say other than I am leaving tomorrow morning, really early, to head back to Utah for my brother's weddin

205: Kid in Aladdin's Palace

Image
Now this one is going to be a little backwards, this is actually the sequel but because it starts with Aladdin being correct alphabetically it is first. The first movie is actually after this one. Ah the movie challenge. So remember how I said in the previous post that there was a theme of time and reality bending? Well now you know what I was talking about. The cat is out of the bag or more like the genie is out of the bottle. It has been so long since I have seen this that I literally only remembered the princess and that his job was as a pizza boy. I freaking love it all over again! Yeah the fx aren't the best, but come on that was what it was in the time and it actually wasn't as bad as some other old movie action-y type movies I have seen. No matter what movie you watch that involves comedy, there is always a hilarious sidekick that tries to steal the show...in this case it was the camel. The camel who farts all the time and even had one of his famous farts used to

204: Kid

Image
This is in the top 10 of my mom's favorite movies. I remembered while re-watching it just why I never said yes to watching it whenever she wanted to...the kid is freaking annoying in the first half of the movie. Loud and just ahhhh. I think the reason why is because my parents didn't let my brother and I get that way, we still had fun but we were never allowed to really get crazy out in public or throw tantrums. That didn't mean that we didn't cry or get upset, nothing extreme though like when he gets over excited in the diner. I do like Bruce Willis in this though, just not the part about him being someone who helps dirtbags get away with stuff and lie about who they are. He is so mean to anyone who is genuinely nice and I do admit that I love that the kid mellowed him out and brought him back to his real center. I still don't love this movie, it is eh...okay for me still, but I'm still glad that it is my mom's. She can keep it and love it enough for

203: Kate & Leopold

Image
It has been since oh...I believe Middle School or High School since I saw this and it was a girls night with my friends. I can say that I didn't catch most of the things I did this time around!!! I used to watch this all the time because I loved Meg Ryan movies. So I didn't notice that the moment that Stuart and Leopold fall off the bridge in the beginning and Kate feels the elevator stop and hesitate that that was the first sign of things changing with him coming to the future. What with him being the inventor of the elevator and all. I also didn't know why Stuart was laughing at the beginning while they were having a speech about the 'erection' of the Brooklyn Bridge until of course now that I am older. It was hilarious and so I would have done the same thing as he did. Ha, ha. We all have our immature moments. There was more that I understood with the concept of time changing and the science behind it this time around since it has been awhile. The little m

202: Just My Luck

Image
Have you ever met someone or know someone who is just super lucky all the time? What about unlucky? I think most of us are a little bit of both and I have had my fair share of bad luck more than good, then again I am accident prone. The one day that I have good luck and have a good day more than others is Friday the 13th. 13 is my lucky number and for some reason I just have clicked with that day and number, so much so that I have it part of one of my tattoos on my wrist. I love this movie so much, Chris and Lindsay really click in this and for all who don't know, this was before he got super famous off of Star Trek. There is so much humor in this, just as there can be humor in bad luck at times, but at the same time there is also just a lot of cringing. Not for reasons that would say it was bad. The cringing I am talking about is more along the lines of when the bad luck takes hold, especially when she face plants into the so called art work that is made of a pile of mud. Y

201: Just Married

Image
Seeing this movie again, I really miss her!!!! She was so funny and the way these two played off each other's clumsiness and humor was like a match made in comedy heaven. I think you could make a drinking game out of how many times they stumble or hit their heads or cause an accident. I mean for a honeymoon, they really had a horrible one that was far from lucky. For one, they didn't even get lucky the entire trip with obstacles like tiredness from wedding night, obnoxious bodily gas from a flyer having too much Mexican food in the bathroom, setting a hotel room plug on fire, getting caught in a snow bank in the Alps, being stuck in a run down cockroach infested pensione in Italy and finally her ex showing up and more fighting. This really shows just how hard a wedding, honeymoon and marriage can be in the beginning. Although I doubt many people have the bad luck that this couple did. In the end I am glad it all worked out, it took them to relive their horrible honeymoon

200: Just Like Heaven

Image
In case you didn't know, Mark Ruffalo is really funny and romantic. Yeah you might have known that from 13 Going on 30, but I mean you get him in a new element of mourning his wife, dealing with a spirit of a woman who is in a coma and won't leave him alone. I used to love this movie so much, but I think I over watched it when I loved it because now I just go 'eh' whenever someone wants to watch it. Re-watching it though I remember how funny it is between David and Elizabeth and don't even get me started on the psychic played by Jon Heder. I'm not really feeling like I have much to say today sadly, it is a very blah day outside and thus I am very blah inside. Everyone has one of those days and I did kind of sympathize with how David was in the beginning of the movie, just there and not really wanting to do anything but be on the couch. I did find it interesting, watching the behind the scenes, that this was directed by the guy who did Freaky Friday and Me

199: Justice League

Image
Justice and Truth! I love this movie, saw it twice in theaters and got the blue ray edition of it so then I could watch all those glorious behind the scenes. I know that there are people out there who prefer the Flash from the tv show and mainly due to the costume being more like the comics, I have never seen it and don't intend to, but I actually really like Ezra Miller's version way better. He just embodies the lightning and the speed, the goofy quirkiness I hear the Flash is supposed to be. I do have to say that my favorite DC superhero is Batman, I do love Wonder Woman after she had her own movie with Gal Gadot, but I never got into Superman. Not that is not to say that I don't like this version of Superman, I think Henry did a great job of playing him and making me not hate him for his pretty boyness. With this being the first time that the Justice League is on the full screen, I think it was executed fantastically. Marvel has their Avengers, it is about time th

198: Just Go With It

Image
When a lie has just gone too far, you just have to go with it. What is so funny about this movie is just the ridiculous lengths that are taken in getting the girl he thinks is the one, only to find out that his friend and assistant who helps him with his fake life is who he actually loves. Two hilarious people...well I mean I should add who played Eddie, because he is just comedy gold with the sheep selling, the accent, the sheep resuscitation and the costume for the role of Dolph but not the one from Rocky. Also another movie in Hawaii. I went from a dinosaur movie shot in Hawaii, to a normal movie shot in Hawaii. Hawaii is a very popular place to film movies, there is a trend I am seeing. I think also that I do love that things get mended as the movie goes along. The kids that have an absent dad that doesn't want to spend time with them, a guy that doesn't want to get his heart broken but still is kind of searching for someone to love, same with the girl, and then ther

197: Jurassic World

Image
I love Jurassic Park and I mean it took me a long time to love it because when I was little the movie actually scared me. Then this one came out and it was pure awesomeness! I love that you have the raptors and Owen having a bond. My 2 favorite parts of this movie are when he is on the motorcycle like in the poster above, riding alongside them towards the Indonimus Rex, the other is the fight between the Indonimus, Blue and the Tyrannosaurus Rex. This movie definitely has more humor tied into it, I mean they have Chris Pratt and not as dark as the original trilogy. Although, there is always at least one death in each movie that is the most vicious and brutal of them all and in this one it has to be the poor assistant being picked on by the pterodactyls and finally eaten by the big one in the water. I remember every dinosaur name but that one. Figures, right? My mom even watched the rest of it with me because of my cat wanting some loves and mentioned how it was like Godzilla wit

196: Jupiter Ascending

Image
Okay so right off the bat I am going to say I only saw this once when it came out on DVD and I haven't touched it since. I mean I liked it the first time, but at the same time it was really weird and didn't make much sense to me. Then again I was pretty sick at the time and I mean anything is weird and doesn't make sense when you have sick brain. It puts you in a fog. Well watching it for the second time, pausing it not far into it to google it and kind of hope for a better idea of how to understand it, then continued it...I actually like it. I mean it is out there, it is a whole new idea and I had no idea until we watched the behind the scenes that this was created and directed by the same people who brought us The Matrix. It really helped even more with the behind the scenes to understand that it was kind of like Dorothy, Alice and Cinderella trying to find themselves when they are not happy in their world and to come back after their experiences and care for their

195: Jumper

Image
I would love to be able to jump around places like they do in this movie. I know that in the wrong hands this ability could be disastrous, but watching it I was just super jealous that he could instantly jump to the pyramids, go to London, be in Rome...I would love to have this ability to see the places in the world that I want to learn more about. Egypt, Italy, England, Scotland, Iceland, Greece, Germany...I could go on and on honestly. I always loved learning more about other countries that I did about the US in school. It is older and there is some amazing architecture that you just don't see here in the states. Also I have relatives in Germany and would love to be able to see them face to face and see where my grandmother grew up before she came over. You don't really see Hayden Christensen in things anymore, not as much as when he was in Star Wars episode 2 and 3. He kind of boomed and then disappeared. He was really good and then of course I forgot that Rachel Bils

194: Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle

Image
2nd time seeing this since December when it came out. I forgot how ridiculously funny it is and Kevin Hart just has the best lines ever! "I dropped the jewel. I knew we needed it. We're in a pickle." And then you get Dwayne playing a scared of everything teenager and that is something you don't see, ever. He did it so well and was always, except for one time at the beginning, the first one to run away when conflict arose. Don't even get me started on Jack Black...he nailed a teenage self absorbed girl so well! Then the dance fighting and just the fighting in general. They did a good job of the humor and I loved that they paid tribute to Robin Williams with the hideout and having it say 'Alan Parrish was here'. They actually did this movie justice when they came out with it, I was worried it wasn't going to and that is the worry with sequels with anything. I'm glad it proved at least me wrong. It will never hold a light to the original, becau

193: Jumanji

Image
"STAMPEDE!" I have to get this out of the way...who else had the board game from this movie? I did and I had anxiety every time we played it. Also back in Junior High, I opened up the board game to play it and found a dead spider inside the game. I pretty much closed it back up, put it in the donate/get rid of pile we had and said, "Nope. Nope." The scene with the spiders still had me uncomfortable and itching! I had a love/fear relationship with this movie growing up. It is funny but also pretty dark. Looking at the animatronic lion and pelican they made for it, you can see the wild madness that they painted into the eyes. Not your regular lion or pelican you know, these are from a harsher world known as Jumanji. I don't fear it as much as I did when I was younger, I mean now I am 25 I can honestly say I have seen way scarier things. So now there is nothing but love for this movie and the greatness that Robin Williams did in it and since. I loved watch

192: Journey to the Center of the Earth

Image
It has been a LONG time since I have seen this. I only saw it once when it first came out on DVD and I wasn't that into it. Now, however, I think I really love it. I have always loved Brendan Fraser in action movies and especially action movies that involve comedy. I know there is a whole where is he now thing, but if he ever gets back into acting like he did I would love to have him back. If not, then that is fine too. He should live his life and be happy doing whatever he does, he has given me a lot of laughs over the years and was one of my first major crushes in Elementary school. I have never read the book that this movie is based on, we never read Verne in school growing up and now I think I might have to add his adventures to my massive pile on my bookcases and in my side table. Yes, I said in...it has cabinet doors on it and is octagonal. Also it was kind of funny seeing Josh Hutcherson so young! I know that he was in The Hunger Games and most people remember him fro

191: Josie and the Pussycats

Image
I haven't seen this in a good 5 years and I forgot how much I loved it! I still remember all the songs, after all I do still own the soundtrack. I actually did forget how much branding is in this movie, yeah it is mainly about their rise to fame and wanting to be famous, but it is also about subliminal messages hidden in music to get people to buy things. Du Jour though...it brings back fond memories of being addicted to Backstreet Boys and N'sync and they did a great job of mimicking the music and stuff with them. Also I have seen a lot of patterns on owning movies with the sames actors in them! Du Jour big time on that one. When I was little I wanted to be a rockstar and it didn't help that my dad taught guitar and I grew up with music running in my veins. Cousins, grandparents, parents, etc. This movie really made me want to be just like Josie and the Pussycats. I wanted a band with friends just as close as them and I remember I really wanted to have hair just lik

190: John Tucker Must Die

Image
The ultimate revenge, girl power movie. You get a nice rom-com with a twist of just desserts. I have owned this movie since it came out, I love it so much it is hilarious. John Tucker on estrogen, John Tucker in a red lacy thong scaling a building, the awkwardness of Kate and the vastly different personalities of Heather, Carrie and Beth. Even when they are done ruining John Tucker and making into an honest person capable of loving rather than just scheming, they are ready to go into detective mode once more for the younger sweeter Tucker brother. I think I did really root for Kate and John when he started to really open up on the boat. You could tell that he had fallen for her and had learned to become better with how Kate was tugging him along. Then again the girls were right, they had made Kate into who John thought he loved. There are some things that you kind of just wish didn't have to happen, like getting back at a guy like John or feeling like you have to fit in in or

189: Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Image
Now I had initially wanted to add this onto my adventure, then I said I wouldn't, well it is back as you can see. I know it is technically a tv mini series, but so was 10th Kingdom, Alice and Comanche Moon and I included those. They are so well done that they feel like movies to me. I finished this yesterday but I was so exhausted that I wouldn't have been able to write anything good and I just wanted to go to bed. Long, hard, hot, week and then there is all the cotton flying in the air. I am doing better today in sense of not being exhausted, but I have a huge sinus headache and had to take some allergy medicine on top of the two I already take daily. So I loved this book so much and of course it was when I was chapters away from being done, I found out that it was made into the visual world! I think I kind of died a little, because I was really excited. Once I finished the book, bought this and then watched it a couple years ago I fell in love with it all over again. I

188: Iron Man 2

Image
Mickey Roarke as the villain....I love him as a villain!!!! He is awesome! I mean he still doesn't look like he used to, but I mean you have to have a great villain and he is. I think he was better than Jeff Bridges from the first one, but that is just me. I mean ropes of slicing, arc reactor doom---I cannot stop saying how awesome it is. I think I like this one better than the first. I do like the first, but I have really only seen this maybe two times before now and it starts the whole Avengers storyline along with referencing Captain America with the shield prototype. I had to fast forward through the credits to see if they actually did something for an end credit scene and they did, a scene from Thor with the humans trying to free the hammer from the earth. Back to this movie though, I can't believe I forgot that he was being poisoned by his chest piece and that the design changed. I remember seeing Infinity War the second time around and being like, "Wait when

187: Iron Man

Image
Once again I forgot to do this last night. I was just so tired and honestly forgot! Anyways, the first movie that started it all in the Avengers universe. I know that Captain America is technically the first Avenger, but Iron Man was the first Avenger in the movie world before we even knew where they were going. Music rocks, I mean classic rock? Love so much, I grew up on that awesomeness. Also you get Jeff Bridges as the bad guy and he is an amazing actor, looks good with hair and without hair. I love this movie because it shows just how he wanted to be a better person and help others, I mean he got the idea being hostage in a mountain, with shards moving towards his heart and a car battery hooked up to a magnet in his chest....but you have to start somewhere and he created the icon suit. I do have to say I prefer Terrance as the buddy than the new guy they chose to be War Machine in the future movies. I said out loud when he looked ate the none painted silver suit in Tony's
