292: Pink Panther




Inspector Clouseau played by Steve Martin is just a riot. I grew up watching the cartoons and still love watching them on Boomerang. The fact that he never catches the pink panther, kind of the same relationship as Sylvester/Tweety Bird, Wiley Coyote/Roadrunner, Tom/Jerry, Elmer Fudd/Bugs Bunny. Even though in this movie, the pink panther is a diamond in the real world. There is really so many innuendos in this that makes it hilarious for the adults and then just ridiculous mayhem that he causes fun for everyone. I don't think you can have Steve Martin in a movie and not have some innuendo within.

The one thing that my mom and I quote the most from this movie is when he is learning how to say, "I would like to buy a hamburger." It has been some time since we have seen this though and even forgot how much I used to love the song Check On It by Beyonce that she made a video for this. Still know the lyrics!!

In the end he proves that yes, he is an idiot, but he is also a smart idiot in a weird way. Poor Kevin Cline, you got whacked around a lot in this movie.

168: Hobbit - The Battle of the Five Armies

First off...HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!! Now I can get into the movie. This is my 2nd time seeing this one and I forgot that two people died at the end and not just Kili. I mean I cried, I cried really hard when the Elf King told her the reason why it hurt so much was because her love for him was real. My big emotional scale through this movie was, anxiety from all the battle going on, to "come on Thorin, get your head out of your ass", to "YAY THORIN IS BACK", to back heartbreak at the death of Fili, Kili and Thorin, to glad the war was over and Bilbo could go home...of course only to find out his personal effects were being auctioned off. I mean I know there is a lot of CGI in this movie and this one is my least favorite, but not because of that reasoning that is so many others'. Back to basics. To the animal side. The Furian side. Let's be honest here, the dog stole the show. We all want Riddick's dog, that one, not his brother or his sister, that dog. Now that that is cleared up, I do like that they went back to the rated R that this movie is and deserves. Yeah I do love the Chronicles of Riddick movie, a lot and it is my favorite, but there is something lacking. With this you also get the whole survival of the fittest, lone wolf, in the middle of nowhere man trying to find his home and who he is again. It also wouldn't be Riddick without throwing it back to the Pitch Black days. Aliens that come out in the cover of darkness or in this case, rain. Then you also get the father of the man who was being a douchebag in Pitch Black. You know, the one that wanted to kill the girl to save his own skin? Yeah that one. Glad to know that his father is a better man than he was, but kind of sad to watch him find out the horrible thing about his son.
