258: Mummy Returns




I have loved this movie since it came out. My mom bought me the small novel that came out after this did, with movie photos in the middle and I had the hugest crush on Brendan Fraiser. I mean yeah Imhotep and Ardeth was strong too, but Brendan really stole the show for me. I loved this movie and book so much that in Elementary school we did these paper bag book reports. We had to put facts and decorate it to tell the story. Well my mom helped me and we did the hot air ship from the movie, we made the bag into the ship part and had the balloon part above made of I want to say tissue paper...I can't remember much about the materials used, just that it was done. I was so proud of my book report, even though it was a movie book, but that shows you just how much I loved this movie.

I really loved this movie also because I was and still am huge into the history and mythology of Ancient Egypt. It was a big favorite of mine and I even have an Anubis statue and Bastet statue from Egypt. I know it isn't like it was back then, but I would still like to visit it someday. My brother even liked this movie, but he liked The Rock and dressed up as him from this for Halloween in Elementary school. I was more into it beyond The Rock and he was heavily into the wrestling phase at that point. My favorite line that I would say all the time when I was little was, "You get a grip, you big trouble, you get in the car."

This movie is definitely in my top 10 movies of favorites and I still remember every detail clearly. I never got into the 1st one when I was little and I haven't seen it since I was little, I imagine I will like it more now, but the sequel will forever hold the top for me.

168: Hobbit - The Battle of the Five Armies

First off...HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!! Now I can get into the movie. This is my 2nd time seeing this one and I forgot that two people died at the end and not just Kili. I mean I cried, I cried really hard when the Elf King told her the reason why it hurt so much was because her love for him was real. My big emotional scale through this movie was, anxiety from all the battle going on, to "come on Thorin, get your head out of your ass", to "YAY THORIN IS BACK", to back heartbreak at the death of Fili, Kili and Thorin, to glad the war was over and Bilbo could go home...of course only to find out his personal effects were being auctioned off. I mean I know there is a lot of CGI in this movie and this one is my least favorite, but not because of that reasoning that is so many others'. Back to basics. To the animal side. The Furian side. Let's be honest here, the dog stole the show. We all want Riddick's dog, that one, not his brother or his sister, that dog. Now that that is cleared up, I do like that they went back to the rated R that this movie is and deserves. Yeah I do love the Chronicles of Riddick movie, a lot and it is my favorite, but there is something lacking. With this you also get the whole survival of the fittest, lone wolf, in the middle of nowhere man trying to find his home and who he is again. It also wouldn't be Riddick without throwing it back to the Pitch Black days. Aliens that come out in the cover of darkness or in this case, rain. Then you also get the father of the man who was being a douchebag in Pitch Black. You know, the one that wanted to kill the girl to save his own skin? Yeah that one. Glad to know that his father is a better man than he was, but kind of sad to watch him find out the horrible thing about his son.
