257: Mr. Popper's Penguins




Penguins. Yes Penguins. If you don't love Penguins whenever you go to the zoo...I'm so sorry for you. They are super funny and pretty damn cute, however they are loud and they do bite. I imagine that can be a problem for the zookeepers when it comes to taking care of them. Really though, they are fascinating creatures and this movie shows that. Yeah some of the penguins are CGI, but watching the behind the scenes with Jim working with them, you can clearly see that there is a bond there that they formed. Speaking of Jim, it looks like he is another lawyer type guy, who is lying or creating stories to try and close the deal when it comes to properties his firm wants. He does a good job of that, but what is different about this is that he is a guy who is scared to face his past with his father. The penguins sent from his deceased dad help to bring him out of his shell, help him with his family problems, and also helps him to find the love and laughter he was missing in his life.

I do know that this is actually based on a book, I however have never read the book. I also never heard about the book until this movie came out. I imagine that one day I will get the book or books...are there more?...so then I can read them and read them to my future children. Anyways, 9 more M's left! This letter has a big batch.

Last and final mass movie post! I finally did it guys/gals, I completed my movie goal today!!!! I can't believe that I watched 461 movies in one year! I also can't believe I own that many movies! 168: Hobbit - The Battle of the Five Armies

First off...HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!! Now I can get into the movie. This is my 2nd time seeing this one and I forgot that two people died at the end and not just Kili. I mean I cried, I cried really hard when the Elf King told her the reason why it hurt so much was because her love for him was real. My big emotional scale through this movie was, anxiety from all the battle going on, to "come on Thorin, get your head out of your ass", to "YAY THORIN IS BACK", to back heartbreak at the death of Fili, Kili and Thorin, to glad the war was over and Bilbo could go home...of course only to find out his personal effects were being auctioned off. I mean I know there is a lot of CGI in this movie and this one is my least favorite, but not because of that reasoning that is so many others'. Back to basics. To the animal side. The Furian side. Let's be honest here, the dog stole the show. We all want Riddick's dog, that one, not his brother or his sister, that dog. Now that that is cleared up, I do like that they went back to the rated R that this movie is and deserves. Yeah I do love the Chronicles of Riddick movie, a lot and it is my favorite, but there is something lacking. With this you also get the whole survival of the fittest, lone wolf, in the middle of nowhere man trying to find his home and who he is again. It also wouldn't be Riddick without throwing it back to the Pitch Black days. Aliens that come out in the cover of darkness or in this case, rain. Then you also get the father of the man who was being a douchebag in Pitch Black. You know, the one that wanted to kill the girl to save his own skin? Yeah that one. Glad to know that his father is a better man than he was, but kind of sad to watch him find out the horrible thing about his son.
